What Should We Do About the Hopeless Doodle Addict Trophy?

The trophy is currently in limbo, awaiting a decision from me and Clark.  Sadly despite Laurie and her husband's careful fixing and packing of our highly sought after HDA trophy, it arrived at the next doorstep broken :-( 

So we need to make a decision on what kind of trophy we should seek to replace it.  We originally bought an inexpensive one and given the road it has to travel we probably need to purchase a higher quality trophy.  However, usually higher quality means heavier...and heavier means pricier shipping for everyone. We've also looked at some cool looking vintage ones and considered those. Also wondering if anyone has any opinions on what it should look like or other thoughts?

Good points. I also think we need to encourage scaling back on the gifts unless we can get the trophy twice in which case a Maserati might be nice. On second though what would I do with a Maserati?

The inexpensive one lasted quite some time, so perhaps you should consider another inexpensive lightweight trophy.  The fun, I imagine, is in receiving it and recording the event and not the quality of the trophy.  P.S. I'm in line to get this at some point within the decade :)

Already some good thinking! And ditto to what Karen said. I'd hate for someone to feel like they couldn't participate due to the need to spend $50 on a package.

This poor trophy need to be retired to Adina and Clarks shelf if it can be glued together one last time.  Perhaps Adina could then post the memory book entries - maybe one a week for everyone to read - it would be like a time machine!  Then I agree that we need to continue but with something new and different.

How about something like this....unbreakable and inexpensive to mail.   This still fits with the theme of an "award for DK participation".  It could have the DK Logo and recipients could have their photo taken wearing it.

I love the trophy and like DJ, hope it gets to me before 2020 LOL But that's a good thing, right?  That we have so many new HDA's! I don't think we should go heavier because of the shipping costs which could be a burden for some.  A big medallion could be pretty and fun!  And all we'd have to do is replace the ribbon periodically.  

F, you can send the Maserati to me.  Finn says he'd love to co-pilot it! LOL

I agree with Cheryl...a huge thank you to Adina for creating this wonderful site for all us "Doodlers"...and as someone who looks very forward to receiving this prestigious(LOL) award someday, I'm sure that whatever is chosen will be cherished and honoured for years to come.
