The trophy is currently in limbo, awaiting a decision from me and Clark.  Sadly despite Laurie and her husband's careful fixing and packing of our highly sought after HDA trophy, it arrived at the next doorstep broken :-(

So we need to make a decision on what kind of trophy we should seek to replace it.  We originally bought an inexpensive one and given the road it has to travel we probably need to purchase a higher quality trophy.  However, usually higher quality means heavier...and heavier means pricier shipping for everyone. We've also looked at some cool looking vintage ones and considered those. Also wondering if anyone has any opinions on what it should look like or other thoughts?

Here's a photo of Ginny with our beloved trophy before it cracked:

Is there a breakdown of how many points it takes to get to each level?  I know how we gain points.... but how many points does each level represent?   I have tried to find it but can't seem to locate anything.

500 points = Doodle Admirer
1000 points = Socialite
2000 points = Frequent Doodler
3000 pts = Doodle Fancier
4000 = Doodle Enthusiast
5000 = Doodle Lover
6000 = Doodle Fanatic
7000 = Doodle Crazy
8000 = Hopeless Doodle Addict
!!!

Thanks Karen.

-I can't believe that trophy broke again! But it is so hard to glue plastic. It could also be a plaque--with an inscription on a piece of metal that says Hopeless Doodle Addict--we could glue a piece of heavy white cardboard to the back that people could sign. The plaque could even have pawprints or something like that--the companies that make them have a lot of choices. If it was not too big, it would be easy to ship since it is flatter.

Here is a plaque that is pretty close to the trophy we had--cheap, too!

Sorry to say, but I think it is time to retire the old guy.  Maybe come up with some new type of recognition that can be passed on.  Love to see the "book" of comments.  I loved reading them and know there were many more after I had the award.  Maybe limit the package to things that can fit in a mailing box from the post office.  It is so easy to get carried away with things you want to send, and it can get costly.  Remember that little guy who used to travel all over and bring back memories.  Kids used to send him out from classrooms.  I can't remember exactly how it worked, but maybe some type of little traveling dood and a collar of honor for the new recipient doodle to wear.  A notebook?  A medallion for the HDA?  It can just go on and on.

Flat Stanley I think is the traveling little guy!

So sorry to hear that it broke again! It does seem like the right time to retire the trophy, but there are a lot of great suggestions here to keep the honor going!

I like the medal idea best; good photo op, the recipient with the medal around his or her neck like in the Olympics, lol!

With their Doodle sitting next to them in the picture:)

What I wonder about is all those HDA winners that no longer seem to post.

We've discussed some of them in the past. There are many reasons I guess. Sometimes I think I spend too much time on here and should cut back. If it weren't for my special interests primarily photography, some gardening, and the friends in acquaintances I've made through them I might. IT's also great to know there is a community to back you up in emergencies and share joys and sorrows : )
