So Molly doesn't seem to love her crate at night. She barks and barks. We take her out to use bathroom, cuddle with her, calm her, but it then starts again. We have tried having crate next to bed as well as further away. Location doesn't seem to matter. As soon as she is out, she will lay on floor and fry to go to sleep so I know she is tired. I am wondering do other pups do this? Do you let them bark til they fall asleep? Thanks

How old is she?
Enzo did this when she first came home. I found by putting the crate next to the bed, within my reach, I could hang my hand down and reach my fingers through the door. I'd "sshhhhh" and " shush". And she would calm down. This lasted about a week. I foolishly moved the kennel one night and it started again she knew the placement of the kennel! She'd go in at night, give one or two barks and then settle down for the night. After another few weeks, I moved it back away from the bed and she has been fine. She wasn't always thrilled with the crate, but we have noticed, just iin the last 2 weeks or so, she is actually liking it more. She even goes in on her own to take a snooze. She will be 4 months tomorrow.
You may try putting a worn tee shirt of yours in the kennel. The scent may help calm her.
Sadie did this as a puppy, she kept me up all night every night. I tried the tough love approach and let her cry every night in her kennel (which I moved to another room) . After a week she started sleeping through the whole night and now she automatically goes in there on her own to sleep! My advice would be to let her cry and she'll come to realize that it is her own safe spot and enjoy it.
LOL...ear plugs...don't forget the ear plugs! ;)

What do you have IN the crate, Cheryl? My Nimbus has a soft bed in his crate, and a blanket that we rubbed over his siblings as we picked him up. And he has a Snuggle Puppy. It has a heartbeat he can hear and feel, and you can even put a heating pad inside it. He loves to cuddle with it and calms down really fast. Also we usually put him to bed before we go (around 10 pm).

I do have the crate right next to my bed.

I'm attaching a picture of Nimbus with his blankie and Snuggle Puppy. Good luck!

He is adorable!!!!

Thanks! We love him to pieces.

Our 5 month old did the same- we took a risk and let her out of crate where she would sleep on wood floor at bottom of stairs (we don't let her upstairs in bedrooms) have never looked back. He is 6 months

now and sleeps 10-7 every night. I would maybe try that OR complete opposite- let him cry it out- I bet cured after.a week- but a long week! Good luck!
Thanks all! We got the snuggle puppy, Molly loves it and put in a t shirt as well. She basically doesn't cry or if she barks it's for 1 minute then she lies down.
My poodle did this for 2 weeks SOLID. It wasnt a bark, more of a scream bark. Ear plugs for sure. Completely ignore it. Any wavering & they will get it in their head that they can win & you will let them out. He loves his kennel now!
