Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Some of us have been discussing a Sandy Hook romp on September 15th. I haven't been to the shore in probably 2 years now. Certainly not since Sandy. Any feedback on Sandy Hook would be helpful. Come one, come all to the annual romp.
UPDATE
I plan to come between 11:30 or 12. People come and go. Of course if it's really raining it won't be on.
Bring plenty of fresh water and a bowl. Something to sit on if you wish. I may bring a sandwich or something. Lots of towels.
We can meet on North Beach. Follow signs to the parking lot and be prepared for a walk to the water.
Update
I reaiized put the discussion following the romp in the Photography Group . Here is a link.

Thank you so much. Havey has done so many wonderful things over the years helping other animals and people by doing therapy work. He had always shown amazing empathy for other animals..My last Golden Retriever lived with Havey. He was huge ... went up to 130 lbs due to illness. He had pancreatic cancer. However before he was diagnosed he had a seizure ... he was shaking, trembing, confused, salivating etc. Havey ran to him and leaned his little15 lb body next to my Golden Retriever Willie to try to stabilize him. He behaved like a little hero. On other occasions, Havey ran to me to notify me that Willie had a seizure on the other side of my house by barking at me and making me follow him. There is a long list of lovely things he has done.
I appreciate your words
Wow, what a trooper.
Sue - so glad you brought Havey and that he had a good romp! I'm so sad for you. My sister's dog had bladder cancer and it's so tough on the whole family. I hope for the best for all of you and know you will do what's best for Havey! Robin
Thank you.
My mood is so affected by how he is doing , how he is eating, etc. It is so painful. I have been through this in the past with 2 of my Golden Retrievers and when Havey got diagnosed I was devastated for I knew what the future holds. He ate very little today, but followed me all wround and barked at the fence at passing dogs,
Sue, I know we just met but I'm so sorry you have to go through this again. You must be a wonderful mom and nurturer to have raised/rescued such gifted dogs. We're here for you and Havey. Hugs!
Cheryl,
I appreciate your comforting words. It was nice to meet you
Thanks much,
Sue
Sue, I am so sorry to hear of Havey's condition. He looked very happy walking around and I would have never guessed how serious his illness is. I think he and Jilly enjoyed a few moments together! Hugs to you!
Thanks so much for your kind words. It is so upsetting. I am crazy about my little guy.
I haven't had a chance to go through my photos to delete out of focus & repetitive shots, but it looks like I won't have time before I go away for vacation...so I'm uploading them all to my smugmug account at http://rsuntag.smugmug.com/Doodles/Sandy-Hook-Doodle-Romp-9152013/ Apologies for the photos being Tailer-centric (<3) You can view as as Slideshow (button in upper right). You can download full resolution versions of any photos by hovering over the big picture (not the thumbnail) and clicking on the icon that looks like a folder with a down arrow. You can also purchase printed photos from Smugmug and have them mail them to you.
If anybody is interested, I'd love to plan a doodle-hike on a loop trail to the Wildcat Ridge Hawkwatch in Rockaway NJ - http://www.wcrhawkwatch.com/kiosk.html Probably looking at Oct or maybe early November. It's a moderate hike (some hills, some rocky terrain) of about 2.5-3 miles / 75 minutes (hiking time) with great views at the top (you can see the NYC skyline). Send me a private message here or facebook or my personal email if you're interested. If a group is interested, I will organize.
Great photos. I'm glad Luca snuck into a few: ) Hope you have a wonderful vacation.
My parents used to have a home in Rockaway, in White Meadow Lake. The hike sound like fun but my real hiking days are over. I am grateful I can do nice walks or at best an easy hike. I went for one along the Hudson in Palisades State Park recently and that was more my speed. We have talked about doing that as a group in the past but it hasn't happened yet. Enjoy your hike.
Enjoyed your photos, thanks for sharing!!
Enjoyed your photos too!
