First, poor Luca suffered a broken tail and eventually had to have part of it surgically removed as the result of a visit to the groomer. :(

Then I saw this story & video about a groomer beating and abusing dogs she was being paid to groom:

Now, the worst story yet: A dog who died after being thrown against a wall by a groomer at the vet's office!!!!

I'm afraid to leave JD anywhere at this point. 

What I can't figure out is why anyone who could do things like this to a helpless dog chose a profession where they spend their days working with dogs.

Thank you for posting this..but how sad..it is a shame that we cannot fully trust people..seeing videos like this....ugh, makes me sick.  We also do our own grooming...but in the beginning we took Woody to a groomer, she did a wonderful job....the last time I took him there, I had to force him through the door... and that was the deal breaker for us.  I think your best bet would be staying with him during the grooming..does your groomer allow that? Ours didn't..that shouldve been a red flag

I haven't read the responses nor have I looked at any of the links. I've posted this discussion before, with some links of my own.  I've seen enough to know, I won't ever use a groomer or leave my dog alone to be groomed.  Sorry, just how I have always felt.

I truly admire the beautifully groomed dogs I see here on DK.   Just beautiful.  My dog often looks... not so nice.   I love Barb in our grooming group and I've also met some other awesome groomers on this site. But none live near me.

I'll do my own, thank you. I just wont show you when I'm done  :)

This is terrible.  It is hard to believe that people can be so cruel.  This makes me afraid to leave Dougie anywhere...

My Bay loves her groomer at our local Petco. What I love is all the grooming is done in the front with full open view to the store and the outside. You can watch (but in her case i would need to sit there for 3 hours,lol). It makes me sick to think a dog would be so seriously injured by a groomer. I guess we need groomer cams like nanny cams.

This is one of the more horrible stories I have read recently. I hope the woman is banned from any further jobs that have anything to do with animals. This story is the reason I groom mine at home.. I say the cost is too great with two Doods, but truth be known, I enjoy it, and don't want them to be at risk of a mean person. How do you ever know?!!!
