Things To Do In Florida With Your Doodle

I have recently retired and DH & I would like to travel with Max. Since we've never taken him on trips we would like to start with mini trips - day trips or long weekends.
We are looking for places to visit that have pet friendly places to stay, eat and things to do with your doodle.
We live in Southwest Florida (Ft. Myers) so thought we might start with Anna Marie Island.
We would eventually like to travel up the east coast but not this year!
Any ideas/suggestions are much appreciated.

Check out the Kimpton Hotels chain. Just had a friend stay here in Vero Beach with her family and their sheepadoodle puppy and they said they were treated fabulously. The beach is not dog friendly unless you know where to go ;) There are few restaurants that allow dogs. Vero is just a beautiful small beach town. Lots of sea oaks and beautiful houses, etc.

Thank you Susan. We stayed at a Kimpton hotel a few years ago in Seattle, WA (no doodle with us) and it was a very nice hotel. I will keep them in mind as we plan our trips. Verobeach.com website looks like a nice place to visit.

Hi Sandy -- DH and I are recently retired as well.  We spent two weeks last April in Flagler Beach in a condo right at the beach.  The beach there (except 10 Street No to 10 Street So) is pet friendly.  A couple of the ladies from Jacksonville came down with their doodles and we had a nice little doodle romp right there on the beach.  There were several restaurants that had patio areas that allowed the dogs and always brought them little water bowls.  We had a really great time and will be going back again this winter for a month this time to the same condo complex.

St Augustine is a fun place to visit too.  But go in cooler weather.  We love to go between January and April or so.  The beach is St Augustine is dog friendly and you can get away with having your dog on a long leash and they can run.

Lori (Daphne and Lucy) and Bailey and me  had the opportunity last year to meet up with Sheri (Lucy and Annabelle) and Carol ( Banjo).  We had the best time on the beach... Such sweet ladies and their doodles were wonderful!!!

Let me know if you make it to St Augustine.  Lori is only about 20 minutes away and I am about 45 min away.. Would love to meet you in person!!
