I am a little bit (OK, A LOT) addicted to Pinterest... And I keep seeing awesome pins like this. I have 2 empty popcorn tins, a large one like shown & a smaller one, so I can totally do this!.
BUT, I'm unsure how all these bloggers, people on Pinterest are using spray paint as I always thought it was toxic for dogs. Unless, they are just putting small bags into the tins or only spray painting the outside of the tins?

I'd guess they are placing bags inside the tins, and I am sure they are not spraying the inside of the container. What would be the point of that?
Personally, I prefer to store dog food in an air-tight container with an attached snap lid that is on wheels. This may look very cute, but you need two hands to open and close it, and it isn't easily moved with 30 lbs of dog food in it. For me, it would be very inconvenient.
I think it would be perfectly safe to store dog food or treats in after in was painted (only on the outside) and thoroughly dry. Of course put it somewhere the dog(s) can't get it and chew on it or open it.
Heather--I love the Harry Barker tins, but I figured I could make them and it would be cheaper! I might buy the small metal pails from Home Depot and just put some lettering on it, instead of using any spray paint.
I can't imagine the dog would be eating the paint off the side of the container. Looks fine to me.
