Thanksgiving

This weekend is Thanksgiving here in Canada - I know that for most of you Thanksgiving is another six weeks away but I thought it would be fun to see what your favourite Thanksgiving traditions are!  I'm having dinner here on Monday and am looking for some different ideas like recipes, centrepieces and just different traditions that we could start! 

I'll start by saying that I like hollowing out a small pumpkin and putting in a plant for my tabletop centrepiece - then on Hallowe'en I use the same centrepiece but get small plastic spiders from the dollar store and put pins in them and attach them to the pumpkin for a scarier centrepiece! I used to make one of these for my desk at work also - it was a big hit with clients!

Happy Thanksgiving! I think my favorite thing to do at Thanksgiving is write a short note to each guest telling them why I am thankful for them. I put their name on the envelope use it as the place card at the table.

A Very Happy Thanksgiving Wendy, Donna and BG & Gavin from another fellow Canadian who is so looking forward to this Thanksgiving weekend. We always go for a long hike in the woods, our children collect beautiful coloured leaves that have fallen and we always put them around a beautiful Thanksgiving centerpiece.  Turkey, stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, butternut squash, roasted tomatoes with bread crumbs, parsley and feta cheese, bean salad & caesar salad round out the meal.  For dessert it is homemade layered pumpkin pie with fresh whipping cream and my Mom's amazing family trifle...getting hungry just thinking about it. At the dinner table we always go around and everyone says what they are thankful for.  It will be our puppy's first Thanksgiving so definitely extra special...Oh I forgot, I am very thankful for the friendships I have made with all the wonderful people on DK!
