I love using J&J baby shampoo for curly hair on the furkids. From the skin aspect would it hurt them because of Ph, etc???

I love the softness, keeps their curls and makes it easy to comb them. What do you think? Am I hurting their skin and fur??

Good question.....I am wondering the same thing.  Hopefully some of our groomers will have an opinion.

I have always read that you should use a shampoo PH balanced for a dog but I think you can best tell by just looking at the results. If,as you said, the hair is soft and holding it's moisture and the skin looks healthy rather than dry or irritated I think the shampoo you're using is fine. I go with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. :) And that is my non-professional opinion!

I Have used baby shampoo and adult shampoo on Sadie for all of her seven years and there has never been a problem.

So that is really all I can say.!

TY!!!! Charli is not happy - now a bath!!

I don't think you will hurt the fur and if you don't shampoo very often it should be fine for the skin too. If you see a problem, stop : )

I read that our skin is a ph of 6 or less and the dog is about 7. Generally human shampoos match our skin ph BUT, baby shampoo has a ph of about 7 to make it less irritating. The article said that you give up some of the cleaning ability with the higher ph shampoo. At least for people.
