Does anyone vaccinate their puppies at home? I vaccinate our cat at home and the shot literally takes seconds to give. She seems to tolerate them much better at home than when I was taking her to the vet. Any thought or ideas?

When I was breeding, I gave my own Vacs. Problem is, with one dog, it doesn't appear to be cost effective. As you have to buy in bulk. Plus, I prefer my pup to be given the once over by the Vet each time we go in and answering any questions, we may have. Also, you will not be able to give Rabies, only a Vet can administer that particular vac.

I'm aware of the rabies vaccine needing t be given by the vet. But the local feed store sells individual shots for dogs. Thought this might be better for her than the vet giving them.

We actually joined a " puppy plan" our Vet Hospital was running. All Vacs., spueter, multiple fecals, heartworm testing, choice of flea/ heartworm meds. ,micro-chip and unlimited Vet visits, as needed, all included in one lump sum. It was definitely worth joining the program, for at least the first year. Chances are we will not join up for her second year, especially since it appears she is a very healthy puppy. So, I guess to answer your question, for us, self vaccinating, was not worth it.

My vet comes to the house, which is great. We chose her to euthanize our previous dog at home to save him the terror of going to the vet. We liked her so much that we decided to use her for our new puppy, too.
