Another haircut horror story !

Finnley has almost reached the year and a half milestone. She had her first haircut at 6 months, and her second, 6 months later, and then a third (trim up), 1 month after that. All went well, and she always has looked great, and her doodle-ness always remained intact.

Just before her 6 month puppy cut.

Late spring

 

UNTIL YESTERDAY !!

 

I took Finnley to her regular groomer Doreen, only to find that Doreen was out sick. Okay, I could deal with that.

I explained to the woman taking Doreen's place that I knew Finnley was a bit matted in spots, from rolling, and laying in the fall leaves. I brush her regularly, but sometimes, mattes happen ! Told her to leave her tail, and face, I just wanted to see her eyes a bit more. Weeelll, I can definitely see her eyes now.... and everything else !!

 

Obviously this particular grooming will last for awhile, before she becomes my woolly bear doodle again.

No sense flipping out, what's done is done, and she IS kind of rocking the much skinnier Poodle look.

I'm a bit disappointed, but lesson learned. WAIT for DOREEN next time !!!

In the meantime, I am still looking at the glass half full. She is healthy and frisky, and now I am NOT begging her to come in the house, because she is hot and wants to stay outside ! See, it's all good.

I'm having a heck of a time posting this comment...grrr!

Anyhow, this is about 2 months after Tara had her super cut. I didn't belong to DK then and had no support group to calm me down so it took that long for me to be able to take a picture of her.  So subtract about 2 months of growth and you'll get the idea...

Oh yes, I remember that cut. I think it was Myla but I'm not sure. It was radical!!

I am glad you have such a good attitude about this - it really is the only way to survive it - after you vent - a lot!  It truly is a horrible haircut when you want her to look like a doodle. Maybe this can be her Halloween costume?  I would complain to the management and see if you can get a free Doreen cut - in about 8 months....

Ha ha Nancy, I was thinking of starting my post with saying that it was Finnley's Halloween costume. Nah about the complaining. In the scheme of crappy things that could happen in life, this isn't the worst. We'll just see at what stage I like best as it grows back out. Then I'll take a picture in with me EVERY time after !

What did you say when you saw her? I would have flipped, but then I am a woman of little patience lol  Of course you love her the same but wow she looks so different. It would take me a while to get used to it let alone her. Every time I see one of these posts I remind myself why I break my back doing my boys myself!

Nicky, when I saw her I said " Oh, wow, this is not what I expected. Are you sure this is my dog ?"

That was as Finnley was standing with her paws on my shoulders ! I think she wanted me to know it was her, so she stood up like that. I said a couple of times that it sure was shorter than I expected.

This once happened to my schnoodle, who was normally very doodle-y looking. The day after the grooming, my 4 year old niece came over. She looked at the dog, looked around, and asked "Where's Avie?" LOL
