Another haircut horror story !

Finnley has almost reached the year and a half milestone. She had her first haircut at 6 months, and her second, 6 months later, and then a third (trim up), 1 month after that. All went well, and she always has looked great, and her doodle-ness always remained intact.

Just before her 6 month puppy cut.

UNTIL YESTERDAY !!

 

I took Finnley to her regular groomer Doreen, only to find that Doreen was out sick. Okay, I could deal with that.

I explained to the woman taking Doreen's place that I knew Finnley was a bit matted in spots, from rolling, and laying in the fall leaves. I brush her regularly, but sometimes, mattes happen ! Told her to leave her tail, and face, I just wanted to see her eyes a bit more. Weeelll, I can definitely see her eyes now.... and everything else !!

 

Obviously this particular grooming will last for awhile, before she becomes my woolly bear doodle again.

No sense flipping out, what's done is done, and she IS kind of rocking the much skinnier Poodle look.

I'm a bit disappointed, but lesson learned. WAIT for DOREEN next time !!!

In the meantime, I am still looking at the glass half full. She is healthy and frisky, and now I am NOT begging her to come in the house, because she is hot and wants to stay outside ! See, it's all good.

Great attitude Sheila. Finnley still looks gorgeous but definitely not herself. That poodle face is what would get me. I used to see it when I bathed the doodles myself. Time to get her woolies, but you may be too young to remember them.

Well F, the Poodle face is a bit odd to get used to seeing, and I never thought she had a long snout like a

Poodle. I always thought she had a shorter and squarer one. Guess getting to see what was under ALL that fur could be a good thing.... just this once. I took the opportunity to check her out for lumps, and bumps, and anything else that I might not have known was under all that fur. Oh and I have heard the term woolies, but don't exactly know what they are. I'm guessing long underwear ?

Yup, kind of fuzzy pink, thigh length things in my mom's case. We thought they were hysterical.

  She is still a beauty, of course, just a different look.  You won't have to worry about matting for awhile.

Finnley does look sad but she's probably just overwhelmed at everything she can see now!

Even though she looks totally different,  her inner beauty still shines through!

Love your attitude!  This is probably the only time you're glad that doodle hair grows so fast!!!

Wendy I hope it grows fast ! I swear it took forever for her leg hair to grow in, where the IV was when she was spayed. Took most of last winter I think. She probably is enjoying all the things she sees clearer now ! LOL

You do have a great attitude, Sheila. I would have gone ballistic, especially since you specifically mentioned leaving her face! She does look sad. However, she is a beautiful girl, and as one says to one's children, "It's only hair, it will grow back".

Ha, it is true Karen, it is hair and will grow back. I know as I gave myself an unexpected "bad" haircut this past summer. It was a real boo boo moment. I just took a deep breath, and wore a headband till I the spot grew back in !   It's all you can do sometimes !

I know just how you feel, Sheila!  Trav got this kind of "trim" a couple of times, and though I made the best of it, I hated how sad and naked and skinny he looked.

Skinney is the word for the look Pat !! I had a very hard time believing that Finnley's weight leveled off at 69 pounds, until yesterday. I really thought she HAD to be closer to 80 or 85. Now that I see how skinny she really is, it's like ooohh now I get it.... that Ah Ha moment !
