Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So I work with Harper everyday, trainer her. Socializing her. Shes only 14 weeks and at 10 weeks she knew the commands come, sit, paw, other paw, and lay down. When she sees people and other dogs she obviously gets excited and wants to play with them. Shes a great dog and listens very well but she is a puppy and has a one track mind! This weekend we came across a women at the vets office during a fundraiser who had 2 goldendoodles. We took her outside to talk to the women and she starts giving us a hard time for taking our puppy/goldendoodle to the event. She runs a puppy kindergarden program in our area and she went on and on about how we need to socialize her and she needs to have proper training. Ive never been so offended. Harper's still a baby and I felt insulted by this women who belittled us. I appreciate advice but come on.

To you: we run into these people every where and they are mindless about what they say or do, their brain runs on one track and that is all they know or care to know. Sorry they are out there but there are laws against eliminating them you know so we have to be careful.
To the lady: Thank you for your unsolicited advice, puppy training is coming along nicely and in order to socialize we have to get her out and about. Thankfully your advice was free...but we choose different methods and will get exactly where we need to be. Can I have the name and address of your Puppy Kindergarden so I can be sure to avoid it! ;-)
Back to you, I am not very nice spirited about people like that, want to get very nasty to them when I run into them but know that I end up being the one that looks bad in those cases. She is a silly woman that is too full of herself.
Extremely mindless not to mention rude! but youre right they are everywhere. I was so in shock and thrown off at the time she was making her comments that I didn't even think of a response. Im going to steal your advice though on a great response it sure it wont be the last time someone wants to give their unwanted input
I'm sure she thought her program was the answer to all your (non-existent) problems? Sign me up.
Don't be insulted - I'm sure you will do all the right things for Harper.
Sounds like she was trying to drum up some business but she really needs some social skills herself!!
As long as Harper is fully vaccinated "events" are a great way to socialize her. We used to take Tara everywhere we could at that age. Sounds like you're doing an excellent job to me.)
Ditto to all of what Ricki has said here. Once Banjo received all shots, he went everywhere with us. And he behaved like a crazy puppy lots of times. It's all to be expected.
Ditto from me too.
Ricki took the words right out of my mouth - sounds like SHE is the one in need of social skills training!
Sounds like she needs better marketing skills for her puppy program! :-)
I would go online, find her business and make a comment on it, lol
She sure doesn't know how to win customers that's for sure!!
Thank you so much for your reply. Its really frustrating having people comment on your parenting style! This gives me more drive to train Harper!
Harper is adorable! Ignore opinionated know it alls. Not worth it.
