Rosemary in winter

I have re-potted a nice healthy Rosemary and brought it inside to hopefully keep for use over the winter.  I know they are prone to white crud growth (past experience)

-anyone have tips or experience in keeping it healthy?

I would think that it need lots of sun and let it get dry between waterings.  So...put it in a nice sunny south facing window and pretty much forget about it. LOL

When we lived in a house with a dog door I used to plant rosemary bushes on either side of the dog door and every time the dogs went in and out they would rub against the bushes and they always smelled so good!   Good luck with the plant!

I love the smell of it, too!  We make roasted baby yukons often, and add the rosemary towards the end.  yummy.

I don't bring outside plants inside (not enough light) but if I did I would spray the plant with something like Garden Safe Neem Oil which is a organic fungicide insecticide.  You can buy it at Lowe's.  

I love Rosemary and have it planted outside my back door which is SE facing and we are Zone 7.  It has been in the same place for 18 years.  I moved a layered cutting here when I moved and that was from a plant that I layered at the first house.

I have had some luck with Rosemary surviving the winter in the garden, but we can't always get to it under the snow (or brave the temps) to use for cooking in the winter.  I did spray with soap before I brought it in- just have to remember to rinse well before we use it on anything!
