Posting this because at this moment I'm stuck at home waiting on my husband and fighting an anxiety attack. jace went potty about 30 min. ago and it was pretty much pure blood, called my current vet, soon to be ex vet because of the way I was treated over the phone, and they told me it was from "straining" Jace has only went 3 times today and barely had to strain, I told them that and all they said was he needed the metro. I'm fed up with them. I called the animal hospital and they said that this is important, they would see him and to get him there asap. I'm ready to go out the door as soon as my husband gets here. I have a dog on my hands that is pooping blood and is barely moving. I am terrified, one of my worst fears has occured and I'm helpless at this moment. I am furious at my current vets office, they must be a special kind of ignorant.... Please keep us in your thoughts, prayers, etc. I'll update soon.

:-( I am sorry to hear this Bonnie, I hope Owen is all better and bounces back fast!

Bonnie I hope that Owen is doing ok & that they can figure out the cause of his problems

So glad to hear that it's not serious. I like this vet too. No recommendations of Rx food and no metronidazole, that alone makes me happy, lol.

F has already mentioned the probiotics, you might also want to pick up some Pepcid AC or Zantac in case the amoxicillin upsets his stomach.

I hope he has a good night and feels much better tomorrow.

That sold me right there too, we mentioned maggies roundworm problems and he immediately suggested panacur, I think I fell in love when he said those words LOL, I told him we had already treated her with that and he said to bring her in before we did another one to check and see if she needed it. I feel like I've found such a good vet! I'll get some pepcid or zantac tomorrow :)

So glad to hear this and he is home!! Sounds like a great vet!

Super.  These dogs put us through a lot, don't they.  Groucho was at the vet on Saturday because he had been very lethargic for a couple of days and not eating (that was after eating some cow poop on the trail earlier in the week).  We brought him home with a hydration pack (injected on the back of his neck), antibiotics, and a slurry of some type to calm his stomach.  He recovered immediately.  Today he was eating poop again on the trail, so I decided that after this he will wear his muzzle when we are out walking.  So now he is walking on leash with a muzzle.  I hate to do that but he is not a well-behaved trail dog.

i'm so happy that Jace is home and ok....just no excuse for the way your old vet treated you and Jace....will keep Jace in my prayers that he feels all better soon!!!!!!!

I am so glad you have a diagnosis and his illness doesn't seem too serious at least at this point.  I am so glad that you had a postive experience with this vet place.  Sending healing thoughts to Jace and hugs to you.

Emily, I am hoping all goes well. Please let us know when you get a chance. So glad you are taking him in.

I'm so happy for you and Jace.   Your new vet sounds like a keeper :)

Happy to hear this!  Keep getting better Jace.

I have been doing work tonight but kept checking in to make sure I didn't miss your posting.  I am glad that u are happy with this vet and glad that it wasn't something that required immediate surgery. Hopefully u will have a good night with him, and he will feel better in the morning..It is so scary when something like this happens...Hugs to you and Jace and please let us know how he is in the morning...A glass of wine wouldn't hurt u either...
