Will I "doodle" out??

Hi all, 

I'm choosing between 2 red males-they're F1B's. At 4-5 weeks, the one I thought I wanted was a red and looked like he'd get nice & wavy by 9 weeks. Here he is at 7 weeks & his face doesn't look nearly as wavy as I thought it would. He almost doesn't look like the same dog! His siblings are much more wavy--like the 3rd picture.

Does everyone think the pups do look red? The pictures I got of the dad-he was like a burnt copper, but my breeder said he was really red. LOL I think I'm going crazy looking at these photos!

If you're crazy, then I am too because I also have spent hours on hours looking at pictures! From what I can see, most poodles, though they may carry and pass on the red gene, do not stay "red" up through adulthood. Many of the red poodles seem to fade down. The first litter I was on the waiting list for had a red poodle as the dad who was born looking the color of our puppies, but as an adult had faded to almost a cream-white color. I think your puppies definitely look red, but from what I have seen through my extensive "doodle analysis," most of the puppies seem to fade a shade or two as they mature. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong and I know there are exceptions to the rule, but that has been my impression as I have looked at picture after picture.

Yes, I do know they fade. I figured by breeding a red GD to a red mini poodle, it would reduce the chances of a ton of fading-like fading to cream. Maybe they'll fade to an apricot. I think the flash in the pictures might be washing the color out. I need to stop looking at these pictures & just wait until I see them in 2 weeks!

I know Rua, of Dori & Rua, was less wavy when she was younger, like ours. She's a F1B also. I'd feel lucky to get a wavy pup that looked like her! Guess we'll have to wait & see!

I had most of the supplies I ordered sent to my Dad's-I can't wait to get it all & start setting everything up!

I have been "nesting" as well! Set up the crate and I am ardently tracking my order from chewy.com that should arrive on Monday! I can't believe the big day is almost here!!! I tried not to go crazy with supplies, but of course I ordered more than I probably should have haha it's so hard not to want to spoil them from head to toe!

Yes me too! I have a crate, dog bed, collar, leash, food/water bowls, potty bells, poop bags, bag dispenser, Nature's Miracle and a few toys. I still have things I want to get also, LOL!
