Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi All,

I just wanted to introduce myself and Cally. I am 21 years old and have grown up with Rottweilers my entire life and although I love the breed and all my dogs moving out with a Rotty would not be easy with breed restrictions. so I looked for a breed that I could take anywhere and would be with me forever and that is how I settled on the Goldendoodle. Also they make great therapy dogs and since I am becoming a child life specialist and I will also have a bachelors in Early Child hood Education I knew it was the perfect breed for me.

Enough about me lets talk about why we are all here the amazing Goldendoodle. I picked up Cally on October 12th and ever since my life has been forever changed for the better. We named her Cally after Calla Lily because we had to have another flower name because my parents dog that really I call my own is named Rosey, so they are my flower pups!  Cally is a F1B Standard Red/Apricot Goldendoodle. Her mother was a deep red Goldendoodle and her father was a deep red Poodle. Cally is 13 weeks old and I know I am a little bias but I think she is the best puppy. It also helped that her breeder posted pictures and videos every week of the pups so I was really able to watch her grow and that helped with the bond. She is my first doodle and I'm already sold on the breed. I can probably officially say she is potty trained because she has not had an accident in two weeks and always rings the bell or sits by the door waiting to go out. She can sit, stay, come, lay down and come to her name. Although I would love to take all the credit for her training my dog Rosey seem to help teach her when we are practicing because she wants the treats too. You can always find her with a toy in her mouth or by my side or Roseys side.  She is quiet the fan of water and likes to play in her water bowl which ends up turning our dining room into a swimming pool....!

Sorry I went on and on...I am just so in love and I am sure all you doodle lovers can understand!

Welcome to doodlekisses - land of the doodle obsessed!  You fit right in, Brittany.  Clancy and Ned want to welcome Cally.

They are gorgeous!
Thanks everyone for all the well wishes and advice! Cally goes iin for her third booster today. Are there only three five way or 4? Also scheduling her first cleaniss grooming for later this week!

Welcome Brittany and Cally.  I named one of my Shih Tzu's Calla Lilly and my other Shih Tzu was Daisy.  I liked to name them after flowers since I am so fond of them :)   Good luck with your new puppy and look  forward to seeing lots of pictures!

Welcome to DK! Cally is just adorable! So glad you found this site, tons of great info and people! and doodles of course!!

Hi Brittany...Congratulations...so very happy for you.  What a beautiful name Calla is...so glad she has brought you such happiness...enjoy every moment...they are so precious...our sweet doodles!

Hey everyone I just wanted to give everyone another update and maybe get some advice.Cally goes in for her first grooming on Friday...she will be 13 weeks. I'm nervous they will take away that cute puppy look of hers! I think I may ask them not to touch the face because it does not quite need it but she does need a cleanliness groom! Is it normal at this age that she ignores some of the commands and just wants to do her own thing. She use to do it right away now it is every now and then!
