h dear--I hope this doesn't catch on in the real world --There are already people who are dying their poodles pink, etc. Try googling "Panda dog" and you will see that there is a dog called a Chengdu ( I'm not sure of the spelling) that many people in Asia are dying to look like a panda. The dogs have a heavy build and a big round head, so its pretty convincing. BUT, they have a blue tongue, which really looks strange with the panda dyes. Some people have even dyed their little terriers in a panda pattern--strange. I'll try to paste in a link so everyone can see that
What we also should realize as we look at these photos is that most of the cutting has been done by HAND-SCISSORING.
The first one, I guess it's a peacock, is the one that really amazes me the most...look at all those separate sections of fur - the "feathers"- sculpted on the back part of the dog...each of those were cut by hand with a pair of scissors. Look how even they are. I can only guess at the amount of time this took...hours. There is no worry that these dogs are kept looking like this in their everyday life, as my educated guess on what this would cost the poodle owner is about $500 every 3-4 weeks.
Here is a website that shows the terrier dyed (scroll to bottom) and another chow like dog--maybe the Chengdu? Its a strange hobby--I hope it doesn't hurt the dog....http://hubpages.com/hub/panda-dog.
Labradoodles and goldendoodles could not go for this because they are too active. But poodles? They love the one-on-one time for any type of grooming and they would stand for the hours it would take to do this type of decorative grooming. We had poodles for 30 years and they actually request grooming when they feel they need it. Our goldendoodle who is 3/4 poodle loves to be groomed and will also stand for hours, but don't try that with the labradoodle. He tolerates grooming and especially a brush when he knows it means a trip somewhere, but not much else. Poodles? Why not? If you have the time and inclination to do this, they would be willing accomplices.
OMG!!! I have owned Poodles all my life (except for our Labradoodle) and I find those pics to be disturbing. Poodles get a bad rep as it is..........and to have those pics posted is NUTS!!! I feel so bad for those Poodles. The Humane Society should be taking those Poodles away from her.
