After reading through all the great advice I cancelled my appointment with the one groomer, I just wasn't comfortable with the conditions. I checked out three more salons and found one that seemed great. They were a small shop and when they met Bailey she seemed very comfortable with them. I like that they said they take things slow and see how the dogs react to grooming the first time. She has her appointment on friday and I'm not even stressing over it, I feel that good about them.

Great news, hope it goes well and you are happy with the grooming. Keep us posted.

be sure to post a picture after her day at the salon :)

I'm already taking quite a few before shots.

Sounds good!  Please post before and after pics!

I definitely will.

Oh that's fabulous Linda...what a relief that must be...can't wait to see the pics!

It is such a relief, I swear I'm more nervous about this puppy than I was with my first dog who was spoiled horribly!

I can totally relate:)

please make sure you REALLY tell them how you want your pup groomed so the groomer understands..even a picture would help .. I found out the hard way on Violet.....it grew back but they nicked her under belly about 5 times... never went back

Now you have found a groomer who makes Bailey comfortable it is up to you to convey exactly what you do and do not want on Friday.. Write it all down and bring pictures. You are then setting the scene for success, good luck!

First time before taking for grooming I did a really good comb out on my dog. Less matting = less stress. I told them it was more about him being comfortable than the "perfect" cut. They did a great job of making him comfortable and happy. He looked okay and I wasn't unhappy with the results. We then went on to working on the perfect cut for him, discussing his cut versus life style/ comfort. It really is alway a work in progress.
Good luck on Friday. Please post pictures

After seeing you first post- glad you kept looking!  good luck tomorrow.

Something I do might help the fear of the dryer- when I am drying my hair, I always point the dryer toward Quincy for a bit on the cool setting, away from his face.  Now he doesn't even flinch.
