Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
After going through the food trials with Lucy and finding she was allergic to everything under the sun food wise we have had to get creative with treats. She was always a very treat motivated Doodle, so not being able to hand out any sort of reward was tough. We were purchasing this one type of Sweat Potato treat was was solely sweet potato dehydrated. They came in french fry type pieces and we would just cut them up smaller and they were chewy. The other day I opened a package of them and they smelled awful! These were made in the USA, only Sweet Potato treats. Although they looked fine, they just smelled awful. So, for us it is now only homemade dehydrated or raw vege treats. AnnaBelle Loves Lucy's food as her treats so that is working great. Here is my favorite by far ... Just plain ole dehydrated sweet potatoes. They are cut small so they don't take as long to prepare, they are crunchy so they feel like they are getting a special treat. They last a long time in the sealed container. Love them. I'm not much of a cook, so complicated recipes with more than one ingredient don't really interest me, so these are perfect. Wash, cut up, put in dehydrator and we are all set.

Nice!!!!! Thanks for sharing this! Do you think they would work in the oven????
They look great. I must get myself a dehydrator one of these days. I just got a delivery of some pure venison treats which are in tiny pieces and the boys love them. I make biscuits with liver and cheese and blueberries using Spelt flour which go down very well and last for ages but I agree, the simpler the better
Do they share? These look good to eat for us! I bet this is more economical as well as having control over the quality of the potatoes.
Lots of recipes and tips for making dried sweet potato treats (and many other homemade treats) with and without a dehydrator in The Food Group.

Nice...very healthy...thanks for sharing Sheri!
I may have to dust off my dehydrator and try these out.
Exactly..you need to completely get the moisture out, and store them properly! I microwave the sweet potatoes for about 2 minutes, let it cool, then it is easier to cut/slice!
Oh yes, we are big dehydrated sweet potato fans here too. I have the cheapest dehydrator going from a liquidation store and it works just fine - probably takes longer than a good one, but we have lots of time. ps I like your countertop - looks a lot like mine :)
