Finally! Going to get a discussion started with good (and safe) dog treats!
As a reminder, any treats made from a company listed in our Recommended Foods list will work, so I am not going to list them here. Visit this link for those brands: http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/recomme...

And Northern Biscuit, on our recommended list, is a Canadian company. Are those not available near you?
That's usually true. But I think Pure Bites are available at the big chains here, and those are fine.
someone may have already asked but how do you feel about fruitables?
I haven't looked into this company very deeply, but what I saw on their website looked good.
Anybody tried "Sliders" by Clear Conscience? Was taking a look at them and thought I'd see if any doodles out there had given them a try and had comments.
There's some slippery language on the website regarding the sourcing of the ingredients, pretty much dancing around the fact that they are imported. "US Gov't Inspected facilities" means absolutely nothing, as the inspection work is subcontracted out and there have been horrendous oversights by these so-called "inspectors", who are often bribed. I'd have to look into the exact sourcing of the ingredients to be able to recommend this company. Their philosophy is nice, but the implementing of it is problematic unless they source in North America, which they clearly don't or they would say so.
Thanks Karen - I actual got hung up on the very first sentence under Sourcing which was something about all Clear Conscience products are made in the USA. But that doesn't tell me where the ingredients to make them came from. I thought maybe I was being overly suspicious, lol.
Sadly, when it comes to dog food and treats, "suspicious" is a good thing to be. :)
I've emailed the company to ask about sourcing. Because I'm now super paranoid and a teeny bit stressed (because Maizey just finished off a bag of these - which she loved). I'll let everyone know if I get a response.
Sigh, this food stuff is so hard. I thought I was being so safe by sticking to the Made in the USA label. I now need to track sourcing too. I liked it better when I didn't know to over-analyze everything. Gahhhh.
I will be surprised if they give you a straight answer as to the exact location where a particular ingredient is sourced. Please let us know what you learn.
So the company responded right away to me. I asked whether all of the ingredients were sourced in the US as well. I feel better now! Karen - do you think this is sufficient?
