Finally! Going to get a discussion started with good (and safe) dog treats!
As a reminder, any treats made from a company listed in our Recommended Foods list will work, so I am not going to list them here. Visit this link for those brands: http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup/forum/topics/recomme...

Well, that's interesting. I wonder why they don't just say that on the website. They repeat over and over that the products are made here, but never mention that they are sourced here.
I replied with thanks so much and then she sent me another email saying they take it very seriously and are happy I asked, etc. She said it makes her very angry what some companies are doing with sourcing.
I'm tempted to tell her they should be a little clearer on their website.
But I certainly appreciate their customer service. It's very responsive. I wish all companies were like that! Anyways, I'm satisfied and will probably continue to use the burger treats, in moderation, of course.
Interested in the reply:)
About to just stick with the old standbys. Plain old (not really old, as in aged, lol) liver and cucumbers from our garden. They both love picking their own cucumber right off the vine. Didn't leave many for us last year though.
Please take the time to read the following articles about the "inspection" of foreign manufacturing plants, to understand this issue; the second article is about the FDA's "inspection" of foreign food and drug manufacturers, which is concerning for humans and not just dogs. In short, a company's telling you that the sources are "government inspected" is worthless:

Karen, I am looking at buying true chews for extra yummy jerky treats for training but do you think I should steer clear of jerky? The website says they are sourced in the U.S and made in the U.S. Thanks so much and sorry if this is a redundant question!
True Chews are on our Recommended List. It's not that jerky in itself is harmful, it's the sourcing and manufacturing that can be a problem.
However, your best bet for training treats is something tiny, like Zuke's Minis or Pure Bites.
I must have missed them sorry! Oh I see them now, I just saw tyson and moved on. That is what I have along with fruitables but our trainer suggested a little something extra because she does not always respond to those when I want her to listen when our cats are around, She just wants to play with them. Would you suggest that also or just keep working with her? Because I obviously do not want to have to treat her for listening to me for the rest of her life.
Also are the true chews something you can break up in smaller bites? She does everything else when I ask her to around any other distraction and I really do not have to treat her for doing it, she is just very unreliable around my parents cats.
She is just a baby. After a while you won't have to treat often but just when you think you want to or for something special etc. A good dog goes a long way later on. L and C might not agree : )
True Chews are not easy to break. You want something softer for that.
BTW, I got some freeze dried Orijen lamb treats. Very nice, bigger than Zukes but in one piece. I haven't tried breaking them for my guys but for training a pup that might work.
Thanks so much! LOL they probably think who needs to be good when your cute! I just added those to my cart..can I just say how much I love online shopping!!
I love the Orijen freeze-dried treats. Perfect texture.
