Growing Goldendoodle

Hello Doodle Lovers,

I am kind of worried about my dogs weight/height. My boyfriend went out on a whim and bought her from a pet store and surprised me with her despite my research from almost a year to get her from a certain breeder! The pet store told him that she will be a standard size doodle as her mom was a golden retriever and her dad a standard poodle. When we got her at 12 weeks, she only weighed 6 lbs. Now she is up to 15 lbs and 14 weeks old. I've been reading others posts and it seems their doodles weigh a lot by now. Am I worried for nothing? Please advise!

Whoever called you was not with the AKC, and I would get the number that called you and report it. They are committing fraud.

Goldendoodles are not a recognized breed, they are not even close. There are dozens of purebreds that have been breeding true for decades and are still awaiting recognition status, in a group called Foundation Stock Service, and Goldendoodles are nowhere near FSS status yet.

Hmmm, now you have me wondering about Enzo!  She was 14.8 at 12 weeks.  Now, at the end of her 6 mos., she is 42.  I was thinking she'd hit 50-55 lbs.  What was Quincy at 6 mos?

Awe, Enzo is soooo sweet! I have an appt for Rue to be checked on Saturday, I hope that her age is wrong and she progressing as she should. She is eating, drinking, playing and seems healthy to me. So, I'll take it :)

RO, she still has a ways to go and probably wont stop growing for another 3-6 months. So you might reach 50 pds. What was she at 16 weeks?

Bella was 46 pds at 6 months and 58 pds by 10 months and rounded out to 60 by a year or so and remains there. Have you heard of the 16 week weight multiplied by 2, plus or minus 10 pds? So that puts Enzo at about 48 to 58 pds, (its hardly ever minus 10 pds) So even with that formula, she will be right about what you expected probably.
