Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have just seen the new movie Marley and me. I don't want to give anything away, but I am happy to say that Labradoodles are mentioned early in the movie, as the main character is considering getting a dog. They end up with a lab, although I believe we do see a labradoodle in two scenes. (obedience class and the beach)

This is certainly a movie for all dog lovers! Go see it soon. (bring kleenex!)

I saw it and loved it, although during the sad parts with the tears streaming down my face I wondered why I wanted to see it at all.

I say, preview the movie and then decide if your children should see it. I didn't think the bedroom scene was appropriate for my 7-11 yr old grand kids.
We saw the film, seemed much sadder than the book if i remember correctly.I had to reassure my son many times afterwards that it was an actor dog and with our puppy being 4 months we have plenty of time left with her!! We took our 7 and 8 year old, for a PG film there was too much bedroom language and scenes.
Loved the book and the movie.
Great tribute to owning a dog, through the good and bad times, the dog is family.
It is sad, no doubt about it, but a wonderful testament to working with your dog and not giving up
when it chews/ destroys/ creates havoc in daily life.
I thought it was a decent movie, but if you haven't read the book... By all means read the book!!! :-D
It is just so much richer. I bonded with Marley in the book far more than in the movie... Thus I cried more while reading than in the movie. It's a fun flick but I wouldn't take kids to it.
Ok, so I finally went and saw Marley & Me today. I did end up taking Dylan with me and he was laughing his buns off. It really was a good movie and it is one I will DEFINITELY buy when it comes out.

Dylan and I were balling at the end. We ended up going out for lunch and talked about the movie in more detail. It definitely brought back memories of Rolly and Tyler (our poodles), which made Dylan even more upset. I then explained about what the vet was doing in the movie (when he asked what she was doing and was in the syringe). We talked and I told him sometimes we as humans and their family have to make the decision to let them go. That is when I told him I was glad to see both Tyler and Rolly go in their sleep because I do not think I could have made the decision that the main character had made.

He seemed to understand and he is still a little down, but we kept on talking about how Marley really reminds us of Bear.......with the taking of the necklace. Bear is ALWAYS stealing something from somewhere..........LOL. It also brought fond memories of Rolly and Tyler to my mind. They both got to see both kids being born and like in the story, they died when the kids (at least Dylan) was old enough to understand things/people do not live forever.
I would not recommend this movie to anyone. I saw it, and had someone warned me about what it was about, I would not have gone. As a dog lover and owner, I rather would not have watched this movie. The first half was good though!
