I have a question for all of you out there who have gotten there doodles groomed. I had taken Willow to get her first haircut yesterday, she is 6 months old and has a shaggy coat. I love her coat and thinks it makes her look so cute. Well yesterday I took her to get groomed and I told the woman to cut only 1/2 and inch off, instead she buzzed her whole body and only left 1/2 and inch of fur! I was in shock and now I am worried her hair is going to grow back totally different. I also felt so bad considering it also felt like -8 degrees in PA yesterday. Anyway, did anyone have an experience like this? If so what did you do to make sure it didn't happen again? By the way I also showed her a picture of what I wanted. Thanks!

I am so sorry and it truly seems to be such an issue with groomers and doodles. I took Cally in for her first grooming and told them I did not want the face touched no trim no nothing. I even had them write a note on her paper and I cam back to pick up a puppy with a shaved face! I would first suggest find a new groomer! That is what I did and I was very happy with it.  I have not gone through the coat change yet but I would assume she may grow out into her adult coat but others will have more experience with that. So sorry to hear about your bad experience!

I am for sure going to a new groomer. You must have been in shock when her face was shaved, that is crazy! How do they cut Cally? Do they use a buzzer or scissors?

Oh no!!! I am by no means an expert, our Shaka is just 6 months old and has been to the groomer once. I spoke to a friend who is s groomer elsewhere. She suggested I take pictures of what I want. Speak of a puppy trim. This was her suggestion. Overall We were were happy.
Where in PA are you?? We're in NJ... Frigid... Supposed to be 60 on Saturday.. Can't wait!!

We are in the Lehigh Valley, I can't wait for the warmer weather too! Next time I will have to talk about a puppy trim, because the groomer totally missed the mark.

Before and after photos.

Willow still is cute as a bug.. Violet's cut was much shorter than Willow's, if you can imagine

Thank you! No I can't imagine...that is terrible they cut Violet's so short...poor baby.

O.M.G ...I too had that same thing happen to Violet !! worse yet they cut her belly about 5 times ! The ownen told me the groomer was going through some personal issues...............really ??!! hee coat grew back sorta similar but seemed more frizzy ? it is just hair I know ..it will grow back but .. man o man !!! sorry about your experience   :(

Thanks. Oh no...your poor baby! I would have lost my mind if they had cut her...haha. I hope it grows back similar, I will be really upset if it totally different.

Ugh, this happened to me too.  I wanted minimal trimming on her face.  they shaved her nose then tried to blame it on Doodle.  She's a puppy not a statue.  I gave them 3 pictures of what I wanted and they could care less.  She's not a poodle.  They also tried to charge me $60.  I was so angry.  Now I don't know what to do.  She needs her ears cleaned and her nails trimmed, but I'm afraid to take her anywhere.

I feel your pain! It is so crazy how so many groomers aren't listening to what we all want. I wish she would have just told me that the can't groom her the way I wanted it to be done. What also pissed me off was that they cut her long eyelashes...so annoying. I can't believe they tried to blame it on your puppy.

Cut eyelashes?!! That sounds crazy to me. After hearing all these stories, I plan to do all my own grooming.

It's crazy what the groomers seem to do. Makes no sense to me
