Now that I actually have a little bit of time to spend online, here on DK, Facebook etc. post Holiday Season, I would like to wish you all a very happy and healthy New Year and thank all of the incredible people who are part of our amazing Doodle Rescue Collective Family.
I have been rather reflective these past few weeks; thinking back to the days of being one person in a one bedroom apartment in Montclair NJ, with a relatively small rescue footprint, a bit of space for foster doodles, a crappy computer and a desire to make a difference in the lives of rescue dogs........ The days before Facebook and other social media......... I am pondering the power of the Internet, friendships that may not have ever been, if not for the World Wide Web and our shared love and passion for these dogs. So many of you that have been with us from the beginning. The days when DRC was nothing more than 2 women with rescued doodles in different parts of the country, who connected online because of a shared love for their dogs and a mutual contempt for the mass marketing and mass production of their kin and kind.
Two women who simply started cross-posting our own fosters and other "doodles In need" here on doodlekisses.com
One by one you came forward........ Two became 3 and 4, then 5 and before we knew it, we were 800 strong and growing. As I sit here pondering the enormity of what DRC is today, what we have ALL accomplished together, the over 1000 doodles in need saved, assisted, placed into loving homes thanks to ALL OF YOU, I am truly humbled by the power of PEOPLE and our "collective"... Who would have ever thought it possible? ....... I am equally humbled by and am profoundly grateful for the friendship, love and support of some of the most extraordinary individuals I have the honor of calling my friends and rescue colleagues.

So with that all being said, I thank all of you again for all that you do for these dogs and for DRC.....Thank you to our amazing volunteers, our foster families, transporters, regional directors, coordinators, website managers, adopters, friends, supporters and sponsors... Thank you to all of our cheerleaders, our fellow rescuers, our shelter partners, our incredible trainers, behaviorists and veterinarians all over North America who give so generously to us, we don't know what we would do without them or without you .....
Thank you to Doodle Kisses ...Our birth-mother who we honor for continuing to nurture, support and care for us in our "adulthood."
And lastly, thank you to two rescued doodles--Blake and Jack Doodle, who truly saved their mommas and inspired a "call to arms" that brought forth the masses.
I am blessed beyond words to be part of this incredible community and our rescue family.

Yes, it WAS an amazing beginning! But there were three of us.

Thank you to DRC for all the wonderful work you do. You have my admiration for taking misunderstood and mistreated doodles and matching them with their 'forever homes'. I know that you, along with the foster families and all the wonderful adopters do a most professional job in what are often heart braking and stressful situations. I wish you only good things for 2014.

Thank you Nicky, Riley & Boris.......There would be no DRC without all of you and we are so grateful to each and every one of you for your support and friendship.

Thank YOU Jacquie, for all you do to help doodles in need.  Because of the DRC, I am much more knowledgeable about rescue, doodles in general, etc... And more mindful about how I train my human kids to be kind to animals.  So thank you and I hope 2014 is a wonderful year - which would mean FEWER rescues!

What can I possibly say, Jacquie?  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me about "women in rescue" who have devoted their lives to saving dogs.  I was so ignorant about the plight of dogs in general....and it would never have occurred to me that these Doodles who everyone thought were the perfect family pet would ever end up in rescue, and heaven forbid shelters.  And then you wern't quite finished with me....you brought me Murphy (with lots and lots of "intervention from Karen").  I know she must have vouched for me....no fenced yard and all.  It was meant to be....he has taught me so much....and continues to show me how to be a "calm leader"...LOL.  Knowing you and Karen and having you be confident enough to trust me with Murph has made such a difference in my life....I am so grateful.  I feel awful that I haven't been able to do more for DRC recently....too many "family things".  Please know that you are making a huge difference....and Murph sends his love and gratitude.

Murphy was one of my sweetest fosters. I am so happy to follow his progress through these years

Happy new year to you and thanks for your good work.
i know I am grateful for the work of so many who have come together to save all those sweet, dear, needy doodles that you have. It has been such a joy watching DRC grow these past 6 years that I have known of you all. I hope that 1000 becomes 2000 and then 3000 and on and on!.
Happy New Year and a great big THANK YOU for all that you do.

Happy New Year to you also.  Thank you for all that you do for doodles.  By getting a start on doodlekisses, so many of us who were not current on puppy mills, backyard breeding, and animal cruelty, had a chance to learn, and have been able to contribute and support rescue in a personal way - whether it be contributions of money or time.

Happy NewYear Jacquie. You all are doing awsome work. Here's hoping for an even more amazing year in 2014.

Thanks to everyone who has ever been involved including organizers, transporters, fosters, adopters and donors.
