I read that a pea-sized bump is normal and that bump is pea-sized, but it's a bit red. There is no oozing, hot skin, or anything. The incision has been really raised and jagged ever since I picked her up from the vet. I just feel like after 13 days it should look better.  I'm concerned that if I take her into the vet and they need to do anything to it, my pet insurance will be ruined (I got her spayed right before signing up for pet insurance) so anything wrong with her spay would be a pre-existing condition.

I agree that after 13 days it should look better. I would have the vet take a look. I doubt that "there is anything wrong with her spay", it's just an incision that may not be healing so well, and that isn't going to be an ongoing issue that might need treatment in the future, so I wouldn't worry about it being considered a "pre-existing condition".

It may be perfectly fine and you will waste the cost of a vet visit to take a look at it, but it will put your mind at ease.

I'm fine with wasting money on a vet visit for nothing, it's the pre-existing thing I worry about. I've heard of an ear infection being used as a pre-existing condition for Addison's Disease! I think it is just taking a little longer to heal so I might wait a couple of days and see how if it is looking better.

I think the incision itself looks good. I am not sure about the bump but I would watch it for now myself. As for the ear infection and Addison's that's nonsense.
Comparatively, Enzo's wasn't anywhere near as red after 13 days. It does look like a lot of scar tissue at the incision, which is normal. I'm not sure of that bump.. If it were me, I'd have it Vet checked.

I agree that it SHOULD look better for 13 days post-surgery however, it doesn't bad. Was she able to get at the incision to lick it? Was she more active than she should have been? Doing stairs?

Since we don't see signs of infection (warmth, pus/drainage, streaking) I wouldn't be concerned. You could put some bacitracin on the incision.

I've been scar watching for three weeks now and this doesn't look infected. I wonder has she been licking it at all? The raised red bump is the only thing I would be concerned about. I think if you have some antibacterial cream you could put on it and if you are still not happy over the week-end let the vet see it. If your vet has an email and is very friendly (like mine) do you think you could email this picture to him? Just a long shot......

I would take her in just to check it out. The vet probably won't charge anything just to look at it. When Oscar had his intestinal obstruction surgery last Spring I took him back to the vet several times just to look at the incision as it didn't look right to me. No charge at all.

I would most definitely get it checked...always better safe than sorry.  In our experience with Ellie, who was just recently spayed the end of November...it definitely looked almost healed after 13 days.

Hmmm I am pretty sure Peri's looked similar after a week or two also.  I think it looks okay, but if something is nagging at you, take her in. Sometimes you have to trust that instinct!

Is there  dried blood?  almost looks like it.  maybe it needs to be wiped with peroxide -  may want your vet to make that call.  hope it's all good and keep us posted!

It looks dirty, doesn't it? I tried gently wiping around it with a clean, damp cloth to no avail.

Leave it alone.
