Just A Quick Introduction

Hello one and all!

I've been reading this site intensely for the past few weeks in preparation for the newest addition to our family. The data gathered has been extremely helpful as we move forward with buying our first Labradoodle and our first dog in many years.

We have been living the life of "empty nesters" and honestly really enjoy the fact that we have no kids or pets to tie us down. But we also miss coming home from a bad day at work to a child or dog to greet us. So we spent a considerable amount of time discussing if we wanted to make this step. 

Once we committed the conversation quickly turned to what kind of dog did we want. Our first visit was to several Humane Society shelters. Sadly most all of the dogs we seen were not what we were looking for. We checked several rescue groups as well. We felt so bad for all those poor dogs, and ended up making contributions to help them, but we had to stick to out guns about finding the right fit for our family and our situation.

After weighing the pros and cons of all the breeds, we decided on a Labradoodle. We visited several breeders and did as much homework as we could. So next week we bring home our 10 week old black Labradoodle.

Now we have to work on a name and getting the house puppy proof! 

I look forward to gleaning more knowledge from all the members here!

Well we pretty much have everything bought to get us started. The crate we ordered from Amazon won't get here until several days after we pick up the pup, so we have to borrow one from a friend to get us through. Other than that we are ready I do believe!

A welcome from us as well,  your story is familiar to me - we're empty nesters with canine kids~ tried life without critters and it just wasn't right.   Now it's complicated, no more travel on a whim - but I'd rather cuddle dogs everyday than be footloose and fancy free.

Enjoy the moments, puppyhood goes at the speed of light (even though it feels like forever), take naps - I wish you joy!
