I have been practicing on getting a good photo with background bokeh lights. Of course, one thing to practice on is not enough for me and I had to add into the mix candy canes (blog to follow), hanging ornaments, beds, balls, and dogs. It has not been going smoothly and today I handed my new camera back to John and said, "keep it." My dramatic outburst is over and I decided to post a discussion where we can add similar shots, discuss techniques, camera settings, and give critiques.
Here is the best of what I have gotten so far and I know I have a long way to go. I have taken equal number of Fudge and Vern, but have been less successful with Fudge. They have been great models.
I will continue to update with pictures as I get the hang of things.

Thanks, Jane, for your honesty :) I wish I knew how the bokeh got to be pastel...LOL! The background in both cases is white or off white. I think Camilla fixed the eyes. I just want perfection ONCE. I wanted to try the ornaments shots and I really like it, but that is the great thing about photography...we all like different things, but can appreciate the work involved. Ronna hates the "looking down on" shot and I love that idea too. I must be weird :) Thank you so much! I value your opinion highly.
You don't have a long way to go Laurie...these are absolutely amazing...I truly thought a professional had done these...amazing...truly amazing:)
Thank you so much!
Donna, This is lovely and fun!
Donna I love this!
Donna, I love this photo and the Snowman is so cute! I think it is cool you still have your tree up! More festive!
Awesome, Donna. Your snowman is great for winter. Keep him out! We have our decorations only half put away - an awkward part of the process.
Wow! I LOVE the first two of Vern and both of Fudgie. I don't quite understand bokeh.
