Ever heard of it?  I went looking for it in Monterey today but could not find it.  I thought it sounded interesting as it contains probiotics.  My guys don't want to eat the dry dog food (Solid Gold) but I think that is because I am giving them the good stuff (what we eat).

Anybody remember when our dogs all ate table scraps and were outside most of the time.  Maybe it was because we were on a farm, but I never remember buying a bag of dog food.  They ate what we ate.  I remember one of our dogs loved peas.

Nothing to do with LA, but I remember when I was little in Japan, our dog had a dog house in the area that was the extension of the porch. This area was sort of like covered car port where my dad parked the car, with 3 sides covered. She ate table scraps, which was usually rice, some fish and Miso soup!! ( So much sodium! ) Life was abundance!!

And the dog was fine, wasn't he (or she)?  Our farm dogs were fine also and did not die at an early age because of the crap that was put into their food.  Their food was all fresh and homemade.  Rice, fish, and miso soup sounds great to me.

Thanks everyone for your input.  I will not be looking for this anymore.

This conversation made me chuckle.. for the reason that there is a woman on a doodle Facebook page who continually wants to fight me about this food and gets mad at me when I tell people I would not recommend this and to stay away from breeders who feed it because they are most likely going to lock you into a contract. But I guess you cannot fight ignorance and people who do not want to do the research! I gave up it is not worth it.. you also cannot help those who do not want help!

People on FB want to fight over anything. I think nobody listens to them in real life, lol. She's probably selling the food herself.

LOL

That is so true Karen. That is why I prefer to stay on DK where people can have civilized conversations and educated ones for that matter, with out it turning into a full on fight! I just stop answering the Facebook posts when people go into "attack" lol. I am pretty sure she does sell it because she told me my thoughts were offensive to the Dr. who formulated the food and the people who sell it. I just moved on lol!

What is also galling is that you see this name "Dr. Jane Bicks" and you think she must be some well-known authority on veterinary medicine, animal nutrition, or some other related field. Jane Bicks is the executive director for product development for the company, and that's about it as far as credentials go. Sure, she has a DVM degree. But so does your vet and mine, and they are not experts in canine nutrition. So what makes Jane Bicks an expert? I can't find any educational credentials to support that, other than that she went to vet school like every other vet. When was the last time she saw a patient or took a class in canine nutrition or any other veterinary subject? Has she ever seen a patient? Who exactly is she and what has she done outside of lending her name to a company that specializes in MLM sales? When you do a Google search of her name, every single entry has some reference to Trilogy International, which is the LA parent company, and Dr. Bicks is listed as one of the only 4 "owner/executives" along with the two founders and the CEO. Not exactly a ringing endorsement, IMO. Can you say "conflict of interest", boys and girls?

WOW! Very interesting! Definitely not a ringing endorsement! During the discussion I told her I would give her the benefit of the doubt and put my opinions aside and email the company to try and get some answers...they were very shady about everything!! They did not answer really any of my questions and definitely left that part out about the Dr... very very interesting.

That's the problem I had even trying to research or analyze the food for nutritional content and quality; you just can't get the information you need. I can't think of another dog food for which this is true. Even the Rx foods make their ingredients and nutritional information available on-line. Only L.A. does not, and will not answer questions. And it's not as if you could go over to the pet supply store and look at the info on the bag, because you can't buy it in any store.

Who wants to deal with that???

She probably has a doctorate in Finance or some such thing.  Great info and I am not one for pyramid schemes.  My husband says that the product may be fine, but you are paying much more for it because of all the people who are getting their cuts.  Sounds a little like MaryKay or Tupperware to me.

Exactly. And at least Tupperware doesn't make health claims, lol.
