One week away!!!

HI Everyone...we are one week away from the arrival of our new puppy!!  We are as green as green can be...never having had a dog myself, nor my husband, and our two children (14 and 11) have had limited exposure to dogs!!  I have been reading a lot  (books and the new puppy advice on this site) and feel somewhat prepared...but would welcome any tried and true puppy advice...even if it seems obvious to you, it will probably be news to me !!  Thx so much!

Congratulations! We got our first dog when our kids were young and it was a great experience for them growing up.  Teaches them love and responsibility. Be prepared, have patience and fun!

Janet, one of the things I love about this site, is if I am having trouble with something, I can always find a topic about that problem. I sometimes find it's enough just to know others are going through what I am, that even though I dislike the thing Max is doing, it's normal and it will pass. That helps me to remain calm and patient. This site has been an invaluable resource for puppy information for me. I have had a dog before but it was ten years ago so I was rusty lol. 

The other thing is of course, we all love to talk about our dogs I think and this is a great place to do that, I can't wait to hear about how your new puppy is doing!
