So Max goes in tomorrow morning to be neutered, well I guess it's actually today looking at the time. I am really nervous. I've never been nervous with any of my animals in the past, but Max had a bad reaction to his vaccinations, I know that's totally unrelated to the neuter but I guess it just has me really worried. :(

Thank you DJ, I know he will, but I hardly slept.
Emily he'll probably come out of this better than me.
Love the name Skeet, and thank you Kelly
Max is 58lbs at six months so I don't want him to become a laptog Doris, but thank you.
I know Miss Ellie, I just want Max home already.
Thanks Ro, the vet I go to well it's a bit of an odd setup. It's a country vet where they do the actual surgery, but there is an office here in town where you drop off your pets. I have always gone there, and they've always done a great job, and it's much less expensive than blue cross (like half the price). So I had to drop him off this morning between 9 and 9:30 and the driver was running a little late because of the weather. They tell me I can put Max in a crate and go...Max has never been in a crate, not once in his life, and he can be a bit of a drama queen. I put him in the crate and you would have thought it was a torture device with the noise he was making. So I just took him out again and said I'd wait for the driver to show up. When the driver got there, I put Max in the crate, and he started up with the howling and crying again. I felt so bad, not just for Max but that poor driver who has to listen to that for 20 minutes. Can't wait for 5:30 to roll around now.
Debbie that's funny! I just hope he forgives me. I had a cat who would not even look at me for like 3 weeks after his neuter. :(
I hope things go well tomorrow.
Waiting to hear...
Do not be afraid to make him wear the cone of shame. You do not want to risk infection from licking at the incision.
We are home, they wanted to keep him overnight and I told them that it wasn't a good idea, and I'd rather not if possible which they said okay to (nobody stays there at night so I don't see the point). When I went to get him the poor guy was so upset, the girls at the vet said it was a good thing I decided to bring him home. His surgery went fine, his checkup was great. He's micro chipped now. He does have to wear the cone of shame, I feel bad for him, but I'd rather that then him rip open his incision, I totally agree with you on that BG, and the first thing he did when he got out of the crate was try to get to it. I feel so bad, he makes this little whistling whining noise when he's hurt, and he's been doing that since he got home (I know he is a big baby, but I still feel bad!). They said he might not want to eat but he was starving and I had to only let him have half the normal amount of his food. OMG it was so sad and yet cute, as soon as they let him out of the crate he came stumbling over to me and laid down on his back with his legs spread open and looked at me with those big eyes as if to say "look what they did to me mom!" This is the one time I do wish I had a crate. There is so much snow here that when we went outside, he got a snow cone head, but he sat down in the snow and I think he liked that (they did say to ice his incision). I'm just glad he's not mad at me, at least not yet, and he's home and doing great. He finally fell asleep, I made up his bed by the door so he could easily go outside without moving around too much.
Oh pitiful boy. Did they send home pain meds? I'm sure he will be much, much better. They are usually disoriented from the anesthesia and that can make them whine too. I hope you all sleep well tonight and wake to a happy day!
Poor guy, feel better soon! Darwin bounced back pretty quickly after his neutering, I'm sure he'll be back to normal soon. :-)
Aw, poor little guy! Feel better soon, Max!
Aww. Poor boy. When our kitty had a procedure he came home with a soft cone. I wonder if they have those for dogs?
They do Deb! Highly recommend them. Not anywhere near as noisy or cumbersome...and it actually acts as a pillow for when they sleep. Enzo didn't mind hers at all.
