Cally has come along way in her training and really has been a dream come true puppy, for the most part! My only issue that I have is that when ever someone opens our back door she bolts out. I do the sit and stay every time before we go out the door whether she is on the leash or not. But if someone is not paying attention or someone who comes to the door opens it (I have an open door policy with my neighbors) , she runs to my neighbors whose house backs up to our 4 acres. I feel it is a safety concern with her just running out the door to go to my neighbors to play with their dog. Does anyone have any advice on how to stop this? She will soon be getting trained for our electric fence but I want to be able to fix this problem. Am I doing something wrong? I did a search in the discussions but could not find anything, maybe I am not using the right wording?
Side note: We usually have her on a leash outside but sometimes let her off the leash and she never leaves our side then whether or not she sees the neighbors dog.

Thanks Aunt Karen and Aunt Jane :)
Oh Wow, I think it's a great pic and I really need to work on this.. I have no clue how but I'll read and learn, what a awesome well trained doodle, I <3 it !
Thanks Debbie - I certainly would never leave him unattended with that type of temptation - (especially during squirrel season).
Cally has been doing great and I am very diligent about her training because I really want this to happen for her and for myself. Cally is still respecting the bathroom door and even respected it when I accidentally left it open. Since she was doing so well with that I started with the back room and she is also respecting that boundary for only have worked on it for a day, EVEN when I have treats in the room!! Cally has been doing great with the back door as well. I still have her on the leash and she will wait at the door even if I open it and wait for the command. I am not quite ready to try with out the least as I want to give it a few more days. But she even waits at the door when someone walks in and out, she did not pull on the leash once!! Thank you all for your suggestions and wanted to let you know how she was doing! I think maybe I will continue with the leash for a while especially because she is getting spayed next week and I cannot risk her running out the door and pulling a stitch, would you all agree with this? I think after these couple weeks on a leash she will really understand and be able to do it with out a leash when people come and go, at least that is my hope!
This is so encouraging! Good job!
I would definitely continue with the leash.
Okay thank you, that is what I thought.
I think it's still a good idea to use the leash until you're absolutely sure she understands the expectation. Great job.
Thank you! I have been working very hard and so as Cally!
Awesome work! You are right to leave the leash on. Sounds like Cally is a fast learner, but it always take time and carefully adding distraction to make sure she has got it down cold.
She is a very fast learner, which is not always a good thing :) That is why I cannot give her a chance to mes up and only want to set her up for success.
Awesome work! I think taking it slow is always better, so leaving the leash on is a good idea until you feel absolutely positive that she will stay, this way you're setting her up for success, good job Cally!
I agree! I only ever want to give her chances of success and I do not want to ever put her in a position where she will not because that is not fair to her!
