So listen to this one.. I was at petco on Saturday with Midas and my husband.. we were shopping around and walking Midas around when we saw in the middle of Petco were 4 older ladies with some adoptable cats and 1 dog. we stopped by for a hello.. then the ladies asked if I would like to say hello to the dog.. I said sure.. they brought him out of the cage (pitbull lab mix) approx. 7 years old) the ladies started to tell me about "Maxamillion" and how he is a very special dog and they love him and that they worry about him when they leave the shelter at night because they love him so much, he has been at the shelter 2 years..and is all people, cat and dog friendly.. and he had been professionally trained (not for any bad reason, he just had been) after hearing his story I asked the ladies if they would like me to share him on my Facebook page as I have many animal lovers on there and hopefully he would find a home.. so they said " oh would you please? thank you!!" so at this point my husband and Midas had been wandering the store, I started to try and get  a picture of the dog so I could post it.. a young extremely hyper yellow lab came to say hi and it was fine.. so then Midas came by to say a friendly hello and the ladies were like go ahead max go play.. and all of a sudden the noises that came out from the other dog sounded like a werewolf!!! I know those noises are warnings..but my GOSH!!! my husband pulled midas away really quickly and nothing happened but I thought that was terrible!! the women were like MAX WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT?? im like omg what was that about???? I finished the convo and walked away.. I mean I think that's wrong to bring an aggressive dog to petco and take him out to play with other dogs!! so scary!! glad nothing happened.. anyways just thought id share YIKES!!

I'm sorry that you were nearly attacked, that must have been very frightneing.   Obviously the dog is not all they say, but are you going to post on your B page about the incident? I would also mention it to the store manager and the person who is in charge of the rescue organization. This is a bad thing waiting to happen.

Glad to hear the altercation went no further than that.

Nothing against the 4 ladies but overall that is the problem with people that own aggressive dogs.  They know the reputation of the breed, they have not seen it in theirs YET and want the same rights as everyone else.  We just had a family in our area whose 4 year old granddaughter was killed by 3 family pitbulls while the grandmother was trying to save the younger child from them.  A family is devastated, a child lost and a grandmother that will never un-see or un-hear that horrible day.  I do understand that there are pets from aggressive breeds that live their entire life doing no harm, but honestly I want no part of it and steer clear of that type dog when I am out.  I hope none of those 4 ladies ever get hurt while trying to find that dog a home.

Glad you got out unscathed!  I have owned a pit / lab cross in the past, and she WAS an amazingly sweet dog - to people. She was one of the sweetest dogs in the world.  That being said, I would never bring her around other dogs, becuase to be frank - pit bulls really cannot be trusted with other dogs, IMO.  I think it has much less to do with the owner and the way they're raised - and much more to do with their genetics.  Over their breed history they have been used with the sole purpose of being bullies, so I really think it's ingrained in them - not their fault but they are born that way I believe.  If we ever go to the dog park and there is a pit mix present, we will not go in.  I just don't trust them, and I owned one - people are sometimes in denial of their dogs ability to be violent.  I knew when I had my dog, I was never in denial of what she would be capable of with another dog..  She was the sweetest thing to me and my friends, but I would never have put another dog potentially in harms way with her.

Im worried to tell the store manager because I don't want something bad to happen to the adoptable dog, (even though he went for midas, I feel bad) like jen said I hate to say it but I feel like it is in their genetics and they cant help sometimes be aggressive.. Midas was attacked at 4 months by a pitbull..my neighbors pitbull (they don't keep him on a leash) and he came running over to my husband who was walking Midas, and my husband picked Midas up (then he was much smaller) and the pit jumped and got his leg.. they did stitches, wanted to do staples but since Midas had eaten they wouldn't put him to sleep to do the staples..and there was also 2 puncture holes that they couldn't stitch.. it was terrible.. ill post pics if you have strong stomachs..also a second time, my sister was coming over with her 3 dogs.. a standard poodle. a Lhasa apso and a toy poodle..my husband met her at the car to help her bring them in and the same pitbull was loose AGAIN!!! he came walking over and at this point my husband kicked him in the chest because if he would have gotten my sisters toy poodle that would have been the end of him!! can you believe this! im always worried he will get out again! and im the dope that wont report it because im worried they will put the dog down!! honestly though if it were me that had been walking Midas the day he got bit I am very short and wouldn't have been able to get Midas high enough off the ground and the dog would have got more then the hind leg of Midas, my husband is 6'1 and he still got a hold of Midas..  im not prejudice against pitbulls..I always try and tell my self not to be worried of them around Midas, but it always seems at the dog park they are bulling other dogs around..Midas is the happiest goofiest dog and the pitbulls kind of gang up in the parks.. I know any dog can bite or attack, its just if a pitbull does, the don't let go.. I read a story about a goldendoodle being attacked on a walk with his owner and an off leash pit attacked really hurting him ( he survived) but it was so bad that the pits owner was hitting the pit in a head with a brick and he wouldn't let go of the doodle!!! that's what freaks me out the most!!
