My mini GD puppy is scheduled to arrive at Laguardia airport tomorrow afternoon at 5:00pm

This storm we're having is already making me a nervous doodle parent!
He's flying from Toronto to Chicago O'Hare, lays over for two hours - then to LGA NY.

I really hope he makes it as he's a bday surprise for my wife, and her bday happens to be tomorrow also :-/

Nobody's a quack! (That includes both Lauries :) Except maybe that breeder for sticking that pup on a plane in the first place!  Once again, DK amazes!  Larry, have a safe trip.

Nobody with the name of Laurie could ever be called a quack :)

Laurie...you are a saint...God Bless you for helping to get someone to take care of this little pup...I feel so helpless...if I had of known I would have gone to Toronto(only an hour away from me) and picked this pup up from the breeder and kept it safe until the owner could make other plans.  We have absolute perfect weather here today, but the breeder should have been proactive and looked to see what flight cancellations were going on where the pup was to be shipped.  I am just so upset with worry for this little guy.

Thank you !! I only wish I could pick up a puppy for ONE DAY :)

Now I'm more worried!!!!!

I was told they ship on a part of the plane that's heated - not in regular cargo like baggage!!!!!!
They shipped using united airlines pet safe

I was also told Chicago is the best airport in the country for dogs - and that they would take the puppy out, care for him, clean his crate, ect - was that all BS??????

I'm on my cell phone for the next 15-20 min - it's easier for me to check emails than DK - if anyone wants to contact me there , LarryLubarsky at gmail

Larry, I just sent you a message. Linda of Maxwell and Lilly can get there by 12:30 pm and pick up your pup and keep him safe until you get there. I will email you. She has your number and I am hoping calls you within a short time.

If it were me, I would trust a DK member over the airlines. Just my opinion.

Oh Laurie...this is wonderful...I hope the airline will be able to release the puppy to Linda without any delay or issues...thank you so much Linda from all of us on DK...it is really wonderful what you are doing to help this poor, sweet puppy:)

I was just messaging with Laurie about this on Fb.  I am traveling so that is the best way to reach me.  Flying dogs is a bad idea for all sorts of reasons as we all know by now.  So it is definitely a good idea for Larry to drive to Chicago to pick up the puppy.  That said, O'Hare is going to be a disaster and someone needs to go and get the puppy now and keep it safe until Larry gets there, and he will pick it up from them.  Otherwise the puppy likely will not be alive by the time he gets there.

Of course I would do it but unfortunately I am in Colorado.  I know a ton of people in Chicago dog community I don't think it will be hard to find someone to help.  If you want me to see who will do this let me know.  Laurie or any of a number of other DK members can reach me by text message or on Fb.

Meanwhile Larry needs to contact the airlines and find out where specifically the puppy is and how he can have it released to someone else.  Maybe they will need forms signed by the sender, I'm not sure.  Try to get the name of an actual human being that understands the situation and that the picker upper can find when they get there.  But under the best of circumstances dealing with the baggage handling at O'Hare is difficult so I think you really want to be on top of this.

In any case time is of the essence.  If you want my help just say the word.

Bravo JAY!
I knew you were out there. Good advice. It certainly is going to be hard to claim a puppy but whoever, please don't give up.

Yes ... I'm just frustrated I can't be there because I know how to deal with nasty Chicagoans and get things done.  It's just that kind of place, you have to strong and determined and not afraid to speak up or you get brushed aside.  Even for things that should be normal like getting care in an ER or whatever.  If Linda is a Chicagoan I know she knows what I mean and I'm sure the puppy will have a good advocate.

Jay you're the best...I hope it gets resolved quickly and safely for that poor puppy's sake!

Thank you Laurie and Jay!!
