Good to have the time to get back to Doodle Kisses - I am on my second Thursday of retirement. I feel very fortunate to have life open up like this - no limits!! One of the things I have been looking forward to was not having to leave my sweet Sophie home alone everyday. Here's the rub - Sophie doesn't seem as excited about the change as I am :-) She has always been a calm puppy for which I have been very grateful. She really is a perfectly wonderful dog. But she seems so "low" these days. The regular vet visit yesterday went well - clean bill of health. She had gained three pounds so that is something we will have to work on. The vet thought maybe the extra weight was making her a little sluggish. Not sure if I am expecting too much with this change in lifestyle. She is eating and drinking as usual, she loves attention and her bully sticks, she LOVES playing in the snow but something seems a little amiss. . .
Any thoughts?

JD has cabin fever, and has not been himself for weeks now, due to our horrible weather. If I didn't know that his routine has been disrupted and he is not getting anywhere near his normal amount of outdoor time/mental stimulation/physical activity, it would be easy for me to think there was something amiss. He too seems "low". I'm trying not to worry and hope you can do the same. :)
Congratulations on your retirement. Enjoy it!
Definitely a possibility as we have had lots of very cold and snowy weather. Thanks for the feedback.
Maybe a short walk will perk her up or a car ride? Also, remember she is used to the days when you were not there! BTW -congratulations on your retirement. I am also retired and am always complaining there is not enough time to get everything done! I hope Sophie perks up soon!
Maybe you are interfering with all her beauty nap time she had when you were not home! Hope she is back to normal soon!
oh- forgot- congratulations on the retirement. I am right behind you, by about 7 years LOL!
Vern has been down too and I blame it on the weather. We all have cabin fever and no one is getting the exercise we usually get. Congratulations on your retirement and I hope you enjoy every minute of it!!
I agree with the cabin fever. Our dogs have to be down like we are not being able to get outside. Surely even more so. Im never coming in the house again once it warms up. Supposed to be in the 40's next week here, hope it will be nice where you are too.
Congrats on retirement. I'm super envious, hoping in 3 years I can swing it.
I think it is a combo: her everyday schedule off kilter and then the cabin fever to boot.
Congrats on the Retirement!
(ssshhhhh, don't tell Hubby, but I was alittle off too, when he retired! Talk about throwing me off schedule! It took us months to readjust!)
LOL Ro! You crack me up!
Congrats on the retirement!!!!
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure it is just the weather and the changes in the schedule. I have taken her for a few car rides - which she loves. We spent sometime outside yesterday. She had a ball building a snowman for her Daddy. I guess we will both just have to adjust to the changes. Hope we can figure it all out.
