Cally is getting spayed tomorrow!
I put her into daycare today to get some extra energy out before those dreaded two weeks of rest! The daycare was great and made sure she was drinking plenty of water so she would not be dehydrated and I am doing the same.
I talked to my vet and they said they will definitely not make Cally stay the night if that is not my wish so that is great news! I do not have to find a new vet. Lol, but really! I have to drop her off between 7:30 and 9. I decided to let my mother take her since I have to be at work really early and it is probably best because she would be able to sense how nervous I am. They are going to call me before and after her surgery and when she is ready to be picked up. They are going to make her the first surgery ( at my vet they only do spay/neuter surgeries on Thursdays) that way they can keep an eye on her for the day. My favorite and her favorite vet techs will be there tomorrow so I am really happy about that!
Please send some positive thoughts that the surgery goes well and that I am able to at least keep her calm for a week....maybe the weekend. :)
Here is a current picture of Cally and her new bandana that just arrived today! Lauries niece made it! I am already ordering another one for Rosey!

Thank you, I'm so glad Cally is out of surgery and ready for momma to pick her up! :) Keep us updated on how she feels overnight!!
Cally is now home and laying at my feet. She walked out of the vet with a pep in her step so that was good! She was not sent home with a cone so I will wait to see what happens but I will probably put it on her as I have to go to work for like 4 hours tomorrow and do not want to risk it! They sent me home with with an antibiotic and some pain medication. I ordered Proviable DC the other day and it was suppose to come today just in case but now it says tomorrow. I figured I would give her her regular frozen Kongs anyways until then. I know two hours apart from any anti biotic. Does this all seem right? The care instructions said she can resume her normal activities in 4-5 days! I will obviously wait to take her to daycare and really high energy things until her stitches are out though!
How is Rue doing! Wishing her a speedy recovery!
Great news, glad everything went well!
I'm so impressed that you ordered the probiotics ahead of time, and yes, give them at least two hours before or after the antibiotics. You can give her some plain yogurt in the meantime. She may not feel much like eating for a day. I hope she continues to do well and you both sail right through this!
Karen, I only knew what kind to get from what you suggested. I have been meaning to for some time just to have them in case I needed them but I kept forgetting and with her surgery I did not know what type of meds they would send me home with so I figured this was a good of time as ever! I usually give her plain non fat yogurt in her Kongs so I will continue to do that and maybe give her just a little extra! Thank you!
Excellent! Enzo barely missed a step with her whole surgery. Our biggest problem was keeping her calm. We walked, but I wouldn't let her run or chase down a ball. No swimming for her either. In spite of it all, she did mange to tear out her outward stitches....not from licking or biting, but by her exuberance ( insert rolling eyes) Thankfully, her inner stitches held. By the time we went back for suture removal...all but one was left.
I think Cally may be Enzos little copy cat!
LOL...I wish you luck in the next few days then! ;)
Cally had a great night. She slept on my bed right between my legs. I did wake up once to her trying to lick her stitches so I put her soft collar on and we were good to go. I am getting ready to head out for work and I have a yogurt filled Kong ready for her in her crate and folded her collar back a little bit so she was able to somewhat get to it. I have to be gone two hours this morning so it will give her something to do. The vet loved that I had a collar ready just in case. Anyways all is good here and I just wanted to let you all know and thank you for the support! Have a good day everyone, it is FRIDAY! Also how is Rue doing?
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
I am so glad Cally is doing well!!
Thank you everyone for asking how Rue is!! She looked sad when I picked her up, but she wagged her tail the entire way home. Just watching it bounce on the passenger seat as we drove home made me happy. We did good thru the night, we layed around and watched tv, kicked DH to the spare bedroom so us girls could lounge. :) We might be spoiled. It's going to be hard to keep her "calm" today. She has a little bit of doodle in her!
Just a question. I know that antibiotics and Probiotics cannot be given within two hours of each other but would yogurt be allowed close to an antibiotic? I have been careful not to let them be within two hours of each other but I was just curious!
