I went to get my Goldendoodle puppy home last weekend. It was about 40 min ride home. About 5 min before we got home. She threw up. Last night I took Lucy to pet store and she did very well there. On the way home about a min before we got home and she threw up again. I never had any problem any of my dog. What can I do? Please help. Thanks

Stay out of the car with her for now.  She will come around.  Lots of walks around the neighborhood would be best for her to adjust to her new environment.  Then maybe rides in wagons and sit with her on swings until she gets used to motion.

She will likely outgrow this! She is just a baby right now!  My guy also tossed his cookies the first few weeks, but soon outgrew it.

Lucy is too cute!

Baker also vomited in the car when he was little…we just prepared for it with towels, etc…he soon grew out of it & loves the car now :)

She might just be nervous.  My puppy threw up 5 minutes into our car ride home from the breeder, but I know she was just scared and nervous (I was too!)  She threw up in the car a month or so later and it was obviously all of her breakfast.  After that I tried to wait for at least an hour after she ate before putting her in the car, but now she's just outgrown it and is happy to jump in the backseat whenever.

We have to give Polly a pill before traveling any distance and still if we go 28 miles she throws up as soon as we stop.  We try short, short trips for now trying to get her used to it.  Meg can go cross country and loves to be with us, I hope to get Polly to the same point.  Good luck with yours.

My last Golden did this as a puppy.  It is something he will grow out of.  In the meantime, if he must go for a ride, try and make sure his stomach is empty.  (Less clean-up)

I did have the Golden Pup ride in in the front seat and it seemed to help.  Being in the back of a van or suv makes lots of people sick...

Thank you everyone!!! :)

Shea is my only Doodle out of four that tosses his cookies. When we go anywhere ,hes NEVER fed before we go.Not even water. I just take short trips with him and it has gotten a lot better.Hes four now and he rides great. I'm still leery about many hours in a car .,but the windows are down and the wind in his hair. That helps.

When we picked up Riley, we put her in a crate in back of our cross over and I sat in the back seat so she could see me. We assumed this was the correct thing to do....not having a clue what we were doing. She screamed the whole 30 minutes home, peed and puked a couple times in the crate. She was a mess when we got home but came out tail wagging and totally forgave us. We didn't do a lot of car rides when she was little so it took a while for her to get used to it. She would drool like crazy and often throw up. To desensitize her, we would put some toys in the back seat and just have her sit there with the doors open in the driveway. We also took some slow drives around the neighborhood working our way up to longer adventures. She seems to like it now. Must just have been the newness and needed to get her sea legs. :-)

Thank you
I unfortunately must have the only doodle who didn't outgrow car sickness! Although Bella has gotten much much better, she still vomits on rides. We give her ginger snaps before and during the ride and that seems to help the best. And we keep rides to under an hour. We just put the ginger snaps to the ultimate test this weekend and took them for a 3 hour off road jeep ride. Going up and down hilly windy roads, driving on rough dirt trails and bouncing in the back of the jeep. I think we would have been ok if she didnt need to drink, but they needed water and when I wasnt paying attention, she downed about 16 oz of water at once. That did her in on the ride home. SO, little or no meal before hand, ginger snap cookies and no or little water during the ride all would be my suggestions.
Keep an old blanket in the backseat of the car for these lovely little puppy gifts til she grows out of it. :)
