Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So Bob has had a pretty mixed coat so far. It was very soft, then it got kind of wiry down his back, and now it seems to be changing again. To date, he's definitely been more shaggy than fluffy. The fur coming in seems to be denser and softer. Is it possible that he'll get fluffy/curly now? I'm so unfamiliar with the poodle coat changes.

I can't answer your questions about Bob's coat, but I do know about poodles' coats. They are very, very curly from day one. They just get denser, coarser, and woollier, but they are never straight, shaggy, or even wavy, even as very young pups. Bob does not have a poodle coat. :)
You're both right... he's not very poodley, but he's not exactly golden retriever-y either. He hardly ever sheds (which is great), but I just can't figure out what it will turn out like! :)
Bob is a cutie.
He reminds me of Jarka's Auggie when he was young. Auggie, many months later, grew to be such a handsome handsome boy.
There are a host of others who, at a very young age, didnt look a bit like a doodle but doodled out later on. It really is hard to tell on any pup
I know nothing about coats, still trying to figure Polly's out. BUT I do know cute and that is the cutest. I fell instantly in love.
Bob is a cutie, he does lean to the retriever side, but he also appears to be growing his beard. His coat does look like it is going to be one of the easier to brush coats, which I would consider a plus. You may find too that when he matures he'll shed a bit, but nothing like a retriever. I would doubt that he would get a curly coat, but he may get a long wavy coat. (Which I for one prefer). :)
Thanks everyone! We think he's pretty cute, but he's a handful! :) Yeah, I guess I wouldn't expect him to get super curly like a poodle, I just can't figure out what's happening because it's definitely changing! And he absolutely has the poodle beard, I know because that sucker soaks up water like a sponge! Also, this was a picture of Bob in October, back when he was 45 lbs... Just went to the vet and he's 75 lbs! A big difference from the 40-50 lbs we thought he was going to be! :)
