Gracie absolutely loves playing outside , especially in the snow (that's all she's ever seen...lol). When she comes in she has tons of little snow balls stuck in her coat. I can tell they bother her as she really tries to get them off. So, I usually brush them off of her right away. Then she lays in front of the fireplace for a few minutes. Is there a better way to handle them ? I don't mind brushing them off and it doesn't really take long. However, I read online that it is not good for the coat. Some people recommend a warm shower, but she goes out several times a day, that would be impractical.
Any advice? Thanks!

If they don't bother her and it is easy to get them off, then just do like you are doing. My dogs rarely get snowballs because we get a dry powdery snow, but when we have wet snow, I pull off the major ones and put them on a towel in a crate for an hour and they come out with no snow and pretty dry.
I was just dealing with this problem this morning! Normally I follow Barb's advice - pull off the major ones and let him dry in a confined space. This morning it was worse than usual and he was clearly unhappy. Just stood at the door looking at me like please help! :-) I ended up just sticking his paws in a bucket of warmish water. He immediately settled down and took a nap - woke up dry and happy! But it is clearly not the most tidy of methods.
Jake loves the snow but he has the same problem snow balls everywhere especially on his legs and between his pads when he comes in he wil lie down and start chewing at tnem we take a blow dryer and melt them then a towel to dry . He seems to like tne dryer,
My little girl (4months) allows me to pull them off her gently. I have trained her to stand in the dog show stance and she waits patiently while I get them off while I fluff her with a soft toiwel. Miss Ivy isn't at all crazy about the hair blower.
I know this is a bit of an older conversation, but I've just seen it and I want to tell you all about the Dog Gone Smart Dirty Dog Door Mat. I have three of them. They're super absorbent. When we come home with those clinging snowballs, I quickly break up the bigger ones before we come in then Yarrow lays on one of the Dirty Dog mats either on the floor or I throw one into her bed. As soon as it's wet, I throw it into the dryer and put a fresh dry one down for her. They are unbelievably absorbent! Thick and soft, too.
