Haven't posted in awhile, Stew's doing great, although he's teething and humping any/all stuffed toys, which makes him a pain for me sometimes.
This morning, I noticed he was pawing at his mouth, he's REALLY teething. He has all incisors, 1 canine and 3 molars on each side that have come in over the past month. I gave him a washcloth that I wrapped up like a stick, soaked in water and froze.
Normally, he doesn't really chew on them long, but today he attacked it! He was vigorously chewing for a few minutes when I saw a little blood, so I figured he'd lost a baby molar and went to see. I walked towards the washcloth, which was partially unrolled and (to me), it was covered in blood! Inside his mouth, was a small pool of blood surrounding and next to the baby tooth. I took the washcloth and tried to hold it there and gently wipe. I did this a few times, but there was still a lot of blood. It wasn't gushing and the baby tooth was not loose enough to come out.
I figure the tooth just needs to work itself out and the new tooth may have been pushing through the gums. Anyone ever see this much blood? The white spot in the picture is the baby tooth.
When I left him in the crate around 10:30, I gave him a nylabone teething bone that I put in the freezer and his favorite antler. He was chewing away as I left.

I can see how that would be startling, but it doesn't seem like too much blood to me. As long as it stopped bleeding, I wouldn't be too concerned about it
The water made the blood run a bit--not to worry--it is normal, I think.
Completely normal. It really isn't all that much blood. Be prepared for more of the same.
Pretty normal! Also, don't be surprised if there is more blood in the future!
Rue is doing this right now, too. I keep finding teeth all over the house! She's lost 4 in two days and I've done the same thing with a wet, frozen rag. I keep finding bloody socks and toys all over the house as she's been chewing on them. It's alarming, but I don't think cause for concern. I can't wait til teething period is over!
I haven't found any of Stew's teeth! He's 5 1/2 months and my trainer told me last night he has a ways to go! I just want those molars & canines to come in already!
