DK People are the Nicest People in the World....and that Includes Pat and Traveler!

Today, I had just arrived home from grocery shopping and was walking down the driveway to get my mail and a blue van pulled into our driveway.  Inside the van was a young man who I did not know and as he got out of the van, I started to wonder what he wanted with me. He asked what the address was and if my name was Laurie. After we confirmed that he was at the right place, he said he had flowers for me. Now, I have been married almost 36 years and I knew John had probably blown all of his allotted funds for romance on a Hallmark card and our trip through the McDonald's drive thru on Valentine's Day, so I immediately thought I might have a secret admirer. The neighbors were out and the wife commented that she wondered what I had down to warrant flowers and the husband commented that he wondered what John had done.

Well, low and behold, I read the card and the flowers were from none other than my friend here on DK, Pat and Traveler. I have written several blogs lately about our horrible winter and the snow and the ice and Pat had commented that I wasn't the only one with problems. She felt trying to avoid stepping on sprouting daffodils was the equivalent of lost power, cabin fever, snow storm after snow storm, and ice. I guess I might have over reacted a bit and told her that her comment made me want to smack her and since my daughter lives in the same city I was going to ask her to go over to Pat's house and do it for me. Thankfully, the flowers arrived from Pat before my daughter got there and I was able to call off the smackdown. Imagine how badly I would feel if I thanked Pat publicly for the beautiful flowers and she commented that she was having trouble seeing because she had to ice her black eye.

The flowers are gorgeous and came with a lovely card!  I walked my dogs today in the rain and it has been a gloomy day, but those flowers brightened up my day!  I really have met the most wonderful people on DK!  Thank you, Pat!! You are a special lady and made my day!!

Yes, DK is the place to warm your heart and meet great people and Doodles.  I have had the best laughs from reading Laurie's blogs and discussions (when I really needed a laugh).  The flowers are absolutely beautiful.  Laurie, you deserve them.  And Pat and Traveler, you are so thoughtful!

Laurie-that is such a nice surprise and so thoughtful of you, Pat!  Good thinking, too, on your part since none of us would put it past Laurie to make good on her threat!  JK!!

Our ground still has a thick covering of snow, but I hope we see some crocus in a month or so when it all melts.

LOL...we can see ground in some places, but our forecast next week is for more snow :(

Laurie is a DK treasure, like poets can be in Ireland.  That said, she can also be a bit of a prima donna with a distressing tendency to fall off the nice wagon over the least little thing.  Really--who else would send out hit persons and flying monkeys (whatever they are!) over a friendly and helpful mention of daffodils in winter?  I would say she should be handled with kid gloves, but that might remind her of cute baby goats playing in spring-green pastures, something that sure won't be happening in her neck of the woods for a while...LOL
