So Archie hasn't eaten anything in 24 hours and has loose stool and a little constipation.  He has been drinking a little which is good, but not as much as usual.  He has been sleeping at every chance and when we go outside to the bathroom, we walk like each block (We live in the city) and he just sits there and stairs aimlessly.  He is very lethargic and just walking slow with head down.  He tends to get upset belly here and there and I think he just had a tummy ache, but I always get a little nervous with the little guy when he's not acting his crazy wild fun silly self.

But I am most confused by his walking a block or so and then just stopping, sitting down and starring at me.  When I say lets go and start to walk he pulls back and won't move a budge.

I'll agree with everyone else on the see the Vet issue, but I wanted to comment on the picky eater.  I have a couple of those here.  I have found with AnnaBelle if I wet her food she will eat it.

He has an appointment today at 10:00am, so we shall see how he's doing.

Also, with the picky eating part...I have done the wet the food method and that never seemed to work any better.  He is just picky, wishes to have varieties all the time and stubborn lol

Hope all pans out well at the Vet this morning.
He sounds pretty sick. He's really worked out a lot recently so it's pretty odd that he wouldn't be hungry. I have a picky eater too. I always "test" Oliver with something really delicious to see how sick he actually is when he won't eat... If he won't eat cheese, steak, or peanut butter we need to get to the vet ASAP!

Yeah, well he scarfed Rotisserie Chicken last night when he wouldn't eat and his head perks up when I say cheese.  he just took his pepcid pill covered in cream cheese, so he is doing ok, but still under the weather,

That's good! Maybe he feels nauseous so it just feels better for him to lay down and not walk.

Exactly.  he also just lapped up half his big bowl of water, so thats a good sign.  I am going to hold out tonight on the ER visit and wait to see his regular vet tomorrow morning if he continues to look more of the same tomorrow morning. I gave his a pepcid pill 30 minutes ago.

That's great, water is important. It's good that you were able to get advice from your vet. Hopefully he'll be better by tomorrow morning. Also, I don't know if you have it, but you might want to look into pet insurance. We have it, and it's nice to know that if something big does happen, you don't even have to think about the cost!

Yeah, I know.  I have been doing my research on it this past week and will be looking into it ASAP.  I am indecisive between PetPlan and HealthyPaws.  Both considered to be the top 2 top Pet Insurance companies, but I think I am leaning towards PetPlan.  Not sure if you have any input on my research/decisions?

I just looked back and realized that I responded to your discussion about this the other day! We have Trupanion which is really similar to Healthy Paws--10% coinsurance, select any deductible, and unlimited benefits. We've never had to use Oliver's insurance because it doesn't cover office visits and his tests haven't been expensive enough to meet his deductible. We have a relatively high deductible ($500) since we wanted basically just wanted catastrophic coverage should something really bad ever happen. Most people on DK seem to have PetPlan and are happy with it. One thing is I think Healthy Paws (and maybe PetPlan) have a long waiting period for hip displasia--which is somewhat common in doodles--I would look into that. So much to think about being a dog owner: daycare, insurance, late night illnesses, dog food ingredient sourcing...

There really is so much to research for dogs.  Its crazy!  I think I will go with Pet Plan as it does cover Vet fees and visit fees.

Thats big for me.

Exams are the majority of our costs. I feel like 50% of the people on DK have PetPlan and love it! I'm sure you will too!
