Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello all! Kona comes home a week from tomorrow and I've been stocking up on toys for her. However, I've read about multiple accidents where dogs have swallowed their toys (especially ones with rope) and it's made me rethink the toys that I've purchased.
I'm very picky with what I buy her and the toys I purchased don't scream "unsafe" to me, but I wanted to double check with you experienced doodle owners. Are there any toys or toy brands specifically that are known to be dangerous? I know this is a pretty vague question, but any help would be appreciated. I'm attaching a picture of the toys I've purchased so far.

Awesome, thanks!! :)
These toys look like lots of fun--Kona's lucky to have a well prepared mom! Just keep a close eye on them because puppies like to rip stuffing out of toys. Also, you might want to get some little toys for the puppy to play with while she's small--Oliver likes smaller toys that he can carry (and squeak) in his mouth. I recommend West Paw and Planet Dog toys. Both brands are very durable, made in the USA, and safe.
Oliver's puppy favorites:
1. West Paw Mingo the flamingo, the mini Mingo is truly perfect for puppies. It has a squeaker, stuffingless, and floppy.
2. West Paw Baby Salsa, very furry with floppy arms and squeekers. One of Oliver's first toys, and we still have it--intact--a year and a half later.
3. Planet Dog raspberry, strawberry, and artichoke treat releasing Kong type toys. Probably the cutest treat releasing toys ever--made in the USA, non-toxic, and they smell like mint (intentional)! The raspberry is small and perfect for a new puppy and the strawberry and artichoke are a little bigger. Still have them now.
4. Planet Dog whistle ball. It glows in the dark, whistles when thrown, and it isn't a perfect sphere so it bounces funky. Oliver could play fetch for hours with this ball, he loves it so much it's almost annoying.
5. Beef tendons. Great for chewing and odorless.
6. Oomaloo fuzzy crochet toys. Very adorable, squeaky, and outrageously durable. Oliver obsessed with these toys. Also, they're hand crocheted by women in Istanbul so you feel good about buying them.
Thanks so much for this!! My shopping cart on Chewy is overflowing, lol! I'm sure Kona will love these toys. Thanks again!
I second both of these companies. Their toys are fabulous
I would like to follow this because I am also looking for good puppy-safe toys for the pup we are bringing home mid-March. Thanks!
Kona is so cute and for toys Miss Bea played with all toys just fine until she was about five months old, after that she tried to eat her bed, all stuffing came out of ther stuffed toys, she is seven months old now and has started eating the rubber from the kongs .. she's a labradoodle and I'm not sure if it's because of the lab or not ... My vet has always said "don't give her anything smaller than her mouth ... she no longer gets tennis balls :( and she loved them better than a treat ... Good Luck and hope Kona isn't a big chewer !
