It's Their Birthday!

Today is Cody & Casey's birthday - a whole 1 year old! As I look back over the past year, I'm amazed at the change in our lives. It started exactly a year ago when we learned that they had just been born. We were able to follow their growth from newborn to 8 weeks old by watching the frequent updates on the breeders website. Then the day finally arrived to pick up Casey. We made the drive from central Mississippi to southern Missouri to pick him up and drive back home. He was a precious ball of wonderful - - but seemed a bit sad and lonely. So after much thought and debate, we went back for a littermate. Cody joined us a week later. They have been a bonded twosome ever since. I feel like a mom of twins - twice the trouble, but four times the love and joy!!! We have ensured that we have some special alone time with each of them and even though they are typically inseparable, and put up a fuss when we take one away, we are not having any of the problems that we were warned about with "litter mate syndrome." They act the same way when we take one of the dachshunds and not them! We are in the mist of blowing puppy coat, so just had them cut really short - - thankfully, it is just hair and will grow back. In the meantime, you can really tell that they are ¾ poodle!!

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. The boys have had lots of snuggle time today and special homemade treats. Thankfully, it is a beautiful day today with lots of warmth and sunshine so helped make it a special day for them.
