We met our little guy on Saturday.  His name is Hugo and at 6 weeks he weighed 5 lbs 10 oz.  Can't wait to bring him home on the 15th!!!  Wondering if any of you soon-to-be or new doodle pup parents have any issues with dog allergies?

Congrats on your new baby! We pick our baby up on the 15 too! No allergies here.

Congrats to you as well!

Congratulations! How exciting! Yes, the main reason we considered getting a multi-gen ALD is because my sons have various environmental allergies and cat allergies, and I have cat AND dog allergies. I've heard it takes a few weeks to adjust before you become immuned. I've been volunteering at the local shelter with cats and dogs for several months. Usually I will have some sort of reaction when I'm there. The last time I volunteered with cats, I had no reaction at all, which was very surprising. So I am hopeful that allergies won't be much of an issue. My breeder also advertised the parents of our pup as being VERY allergy friendly. Best of luck to you!

I'm glad you heard about the adjustment period also.  We have been told that but I wasn't really sure about it.  We also chose the multigen ALD because they are allergy/asthma friendly, and we think we chose a dog with a curlier coat, but I guess we won't really know until his adult coat comes in? But his mom has a VERY curly coat. My husband is very allergic to dogs and one of my 3 kids has a slight allergy to dogs.  We were concerned because when we visited our pup at the breeders on Saturday my husband did react - a few non-itchy hives, a little tickle in his throat and some congestion.  Honestly, he isn't worried, because he spent time with our friend's Multigen ALD and did fine and he feels once Hugo is in our house he will be fine.  There were 8 pups and 2 adult dogs at the breeders and lots of pine shavings, and we were in the room where the dogs are groomed, so he felt that was more the cause of the reaction, rather than the pup.  I hope so.  But he does feel he will need a break-in period and then will be fine.  He just loves the little guy, so there is no turning back now. I guess I am the one who is most concerned - I just don't want him to feel lousy with allergies.
