A while back we went in halfsies on purchasing part of a head of cattle and ended up a very large cow liver. I'd like to make dog treats for Zoe out of it, but not sure of the right method. I have made my own jerky before (for both human and dog consumption - no dehydrator, but I have an oven that goes as low as 170 and it works well). Has anyone made their own liver treats and if so - suggestions?

Liver jerky???? If it works for you, I'll give it a go!
I was thinking that jerky may be too much - when i make jerky out of just regular beef or chicken, i cut it into strips that are about 1/2 in x 3-4 in. But i was thinking that liver jerky in that size might be too big - so I was wondering if anyone had ever made other kinds of treats from liver -
Joanne makes liver treats and the recipe may be on DK.
I've sliced boiled liver into small pieces and tried to make jerky out of it. It hasn't worked properly for me - but I think the problem is with my oven, which is gas and doesn't go below 200+. I just can't get it quite dry enough. So my first batch didn't keep well. It got moldy. I tried it again, cooked it longer. It still didn't seem quite right, so I froze the dry pieces and I give it piece by piece out of the freezer. She loves it. I'd think you can easily puree the liver and use it in a cookie recipe, too.
oo - cookies! didnt think of that!
I know some people mentioned making liver jerky with their dehydrators, there's a whole discussion here in TFG on dehydrator recipes.
May be time for me to invest with one - I can usually do OK with my oven, but it would likely be more convenient with the dehydrator - I just wasn't sure of the texture of liver...
Thanks for the responses!
