Fleas!!

We applied Frontline Plus to our 11-month-old 60-lb. doodle exactly two weeks ago. We had skipped a couple of months because it was winter, and fleas aren't usually an issue where we live. However, we saw a couple of fleas, and decided we'd better get on it. She was soooo suspicious about what we were doing and would NOT hold still, so I don't know how much actually got on her skin and how much just went into her hair. Anyway, she still has fleas! Ugh! 

I decided to switch to Comfortis. My question is this: is it okay to give it to her now, even though we applied the Frontline Plus only two weeks ago? I really want to get rid of these fleas, but I don't want to hurt her by giving her Comfortis too soon after the Frontline.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Yikes! I keep procrastinating as I live in the northeast. I heard that during peak season you can apply before 30 days if needed. But I would just call your vet. I'm not familiar with Comfortis, but it looks like from the websites they claim as well as Frontline to kill all stages of the life cycle. You may need to take other steps as you already have an infestation-such as a though cleaning of carpet, bedding etc. Which you probably are already doing.

Has anyone heard of 'Seresto'? It's new on the market in the U.S. My vet is recommending. It's less topic than topical treatments so I'm seriously considering it. It is a collar, but not like the old school ones. Lasts for 8 months, it's a slow continuous release of chemicals. Safe for cats too which is great. I'm worried about applying Avantix II which my vets also recommends highly for its effectiveness over the other topical options.

Roni, if Roxy can keep the Comfortis down, it may work very well for you.  I usually give Trav Advantix II, but last time I saw fleas on him, I ended up using Comfortis within a couple of weeks of the Advantix treatment to get rid of them.  I can't use it regularly as he throws it up half the time, and I have to really fight to get it down his throat at all as he hates it!  But if he can keep it down, it'll get rid of all the fleas on him within 2-3 hours.  Then I used a premise spray all over the house, which I got from the vet.  It wasn't fun, but it worked.
