Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi im new to the group but was told this group would be helpful for tips on uti's and how to help our puppy get over it and also is it even realistic to train her to go outside while she has her uti? Sochi is our goldendoodle and she is  almost 11 weeks old. we are on our second round of antibiotics which we just started yesterday. sochi has been with us for 3 weeks and came to us with this uti :( it has been frustrating because she is so good but just cant control her constant peeing! we are giving her cranberry supplements everyday and try to get as much water into her as possible!

LOL....researching foods to feed can be mind boggling! But the info is great over in the food group. Check out the top foods and treats, that are both nutritious and safe for our pups.

She is darling, I hope she gets well soon.

aaaww thanks so much!

i am seeing most puppies are pretty much potty trained by 11 weeks and Sochi seems to be getting worse instead of better with her peeing in the house! i am getting frustrated with her :( my husband and i am taking her out and she is peeing and im praising her and giving her treats and then she comes in and 5  minutes later peeing in house.....ugh!!! we restrain her in kitchen part of the day but even with that im not catching her in time to get her out since its every 15 minutes and i dont feel like she is getting it. she can keep her crate dry all night usually though

Most puppies are NOT trained by 11 weeks. Most puppies are not even completely housebroken by 20 weeks. The person who tells you that there puppy is completely housebroken by 11 weeks is either lying or just really good at getting them out. You've got the disadvantage of fighting a UTI as well. But even 100% healthy! your pup would not be trained at 11 weeks. Period.
Amen"

How Long It Will Take

Some puppies learn where and where not to eliminate at a very young age, while others take longer to understand. Most puppies can be reasonably housetrained by four to six months of age. However, some puppies are not 100% reliable until they are eight to twelve months of age. Some puppies seem to catch on early but then regress. This is normal. Keep in mind that it may take a while for your puppy to develop bowel and bladder control. He may be mentally capable of learning to eliminate outdoors instead of inside, but he may not yet be physically capable of controlling his body.
Susan, I realize this is an old post, but did you get your puppy's UTI issues resolved? Our puppy is having the same issue.
