F1, F2 ...??

Hi everyone. I am very curious about something. As my little Miss Ivy was a rescue, I know virtually nothing about her parents, other than that they are labradoodles. Neither of them were lab or poodle. What then would my Ivy be: F1, F2, F3. It is all very confusing

It depends on what generation labradoodles the parents were. If they were both F1s, then she is an F2. if either or both of them were higher generation, she could be anything from an F2B to a multigen. 

It is confusing, but it also doesn't really matter, lol. There is such a great variation from one to another, even within the same litter, that the generational names are meaningless from a standpoint of living with and loving your dog. Just enjoy her. :)

Hi Karen.Yes, I completely agree with you...it doesn't really matter to me at all. I love her to death. She is the new love and joy of my life and ai just can't seem to keep my hands off her. Someone asked me that question the other day, if she was an F1, F2 or F3...all I could say was that I had no idea, and though I would have liked to know, I don't really care. What's most important to me is that she is in her forever home, and she is beautiful no matter what.

She could be any one of those things or even something else. It is impossible to know. Just enjoy her.

From what I know, you can at least rule out that she is an F1. That is a poodle and retriever mix. Then the numbers get confusing to me from there. But you have the best attitude in thinking it just doesn't really matter, but I would be curious too. Either way, she sure is a cutie.

I know it doesn't matter, but it is fun to speculate - we do that all the time with our rescues. And. . .  we change our minds regularly.  If Ivy's parents were both labradoodles then she is at least a  2nd generation (F-2).  We don't even have that much information. I have to say it again, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ivy's name.  I wanted my dil to name my granddaughter Ivy didn't happen, but .....
